Green Lantern #59 Values

Another not so over-looked Green Lantern key comic is the debut of Guy Gardner. Green Lantern #59 is one of the late Silver Age Green Lantern key comics that's actually on the radar for most collectors and comic investing peeps.

Once again, there isn't much word on this movie, but that hasn't stopped speculators or those investing in comics to jump on this one already. Pretty much a no-brainer when it comes to a film that's so far entitled "Green Lantern Corps", right?

With a title like that, it's pretty much a given that this character, created by John Broome and Gil Kane, will most likely show up on the big screen sooner or later. As usual, how has this comic done through the decades and before or after movie hype? Well, that is what we are here to look at, among other things.

Looks like this comic steamed up quite a bit back in the 90s. From there, it's just been on the up and up.

Remember that the 2002-03 highest grade in the OPG is a regular NM and the others are low NMs or 9.2 near mint grades. Alright, let's look at the GoCollect or eBay sales for this one.

This is the 4 year recorded eBay sales that GoCollect has...well...collected. These are sales stats for CGC an CBCS Universal slabs.

Would rather have you look at the data and come to your own conclusions, because I'm just pointing out the obvious. Kinda strange that the latest CGC 9.4 sale in May of 2017 and the last 9.2 sale of $900 last July of 2016.

Doesn't seem like this comic has been on the mind of the market so far in 2017. VF+ or 8.5s are grades that have seen the most action so far this year.

  1. Had a FN copy of this book and sold it back in 2014. Maybe should have held onto it a little longer. It's been creeping up in value the last few years. Will have to see if it continues in that direction.
