Amanda Waller From Suicide Squad Has Been Cast

While the announcements of most of the main Suicide Squad members already been cast, one of the last main ingredients has took some time to find an actress to fill in the role. Well, fans, it seems we've got our Amanda Waller for the big screen.

That actress...drum roll Viola Davis! While Opera Winfrey was rumored as a top choice for Warner Bros. at one time, it seems that the lovely Viola Davis will play the hard-nosed and often questionable director of the Suicide Squad.

The veteran actress in known for quite a few roles including but not limited to Ender's Game, Eat Pray Love, Traffic, and her highly memorable performance in The Help. Viola Davis will no doubt fit in perfectly with this already star-studded cast that includes Will Smith as Deadshot, who seems to be the main focus for the Suicide Squad movie.

However, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn will undoubtedly be a major player in this movie as well. Actor Jai Courtney will be long-time Squad member and Flash villian Captain Boomerang.  The main cast of the Suicide Squad also includes Carla Delevingne as the Enchantress and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag Jr.

The star-studded cast doesn't end there though. We still have the main baddies to go through, and Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jared Leto as The Joker are the confirmed villains for the film so far.

Tom Hardy was originally cast for the role of Rick Flag Jr. but bowed out. Rumors had it that Tom Hardy backed out because of revisions to the script that gave Deadshot and The Joker more screen time and diminished his role in the film.

On the other hand, Viola Davis seems more than gracious in landing the part of Amanda "The Wall" Waller. In a recent interview for the Hollywood Reporter, Davis said, "As a comic book and Wonder Woman fan, I love the whole DC Comics universe." She furthered her comic book geekness by stating, "I traded comic books as a kid so all of that appeals to me. When you dream about being an actor as a kid, that's what you dream about. That's like play acting: being the superhero, getting the gun; it plays into that fantasy."

Gotta love it! No doubt a class act answer, and definitely one from a comic geek who is less concerned with "screen time" and ego than actually being part of the DC Comics cinematic universe! Kudos, Viola Davis! I loved your performance in The Help, but you made me even more of a fan with that answer.

Amanda Waller is an iconic modern character in the DC Universe of comics. She made her first appearance in the limited series Legends #1 and was created by John Ostrander, famed X-Men artist John Byrne, and Wolverine creator Len Wein.

Besides the comics, The Wall has appeared in the animated series the Justice League Unlimited, the Smallville TV series, and more recently Arrow. The ultra sexy Pam Grier played the character on Smallville, and the uber sexy Cynthia Addai-Robinson played Amanda Waller on Arrow.

A sincere congratulations for landing the role of Amanda Waller in the Suicide Squad and fulfilling your childhood dream of one day playing a comic book character on the big screen!

Crossover Comic Key Issues Part 10

Alright, here we are with Part 10 to this crossover comic key issues list, and many of these will be minor ones. Finally, we are heading into some of the Marvel/DC intercompany crossovers.

If you missed Part 9, just click the link to go back. Other than that and if you're good to go, here is the next batch of crossover key issues.

2nd Teen Titans classic crossover

A Batman tale that eventually sees a team up with the Teen Titans, Brave and the Bold #83 is the 2nd classic crossover for the Teen Titans. The group is featured in the story a lot more than their first crossover in Doom Patrol #104.

Batman and the Teen Titans investigate millions of gallons of oil being stolen from the Zenith oil company in this story, and it was published May, 1969.

eBay - Selection isn't scarce but isn't plentiful either. A few raw copies available for the moment here. Three slabbed copies and all are CGCs. Highest is a 9.4 NM followed by an 8.5 VF+ and an 8.0 VF.

NewKadia - Only one VF+ copy in stock at NewKadia.

ComicConnect - CGC 9.4 NM is the highest grade here and only slabbed copy. The rest are raw and the highest is a FN/VF.

ComicLink - Only one CGC 8.0 VF copy here at the moment.

Formation of the Defenders story crossover
Final issue to 1st series
The story presented here is a crossover that would span Submariner #22 and Incredible Hulk #126, and it would lead up to the eventual Defenders formation starting in Marvel Feature #1. This issue is also the final one to the 1st Dr. Strange series and was probably canceled due to low sales.

Putting this character in the Defenders was most likely a move to bolster interest in Dr. Strange, and Strange would get a 2nd series in 1974. Other than that, Dr. Strange #183 begins the storyline that leads up to the formation of the Defenders, and begins the story crossover that was published November, 1969.

eBay - Definitely not plentiful for this comic at the mighty eBay for now. A few raw copies and two slabbed options located. Both are 9.2 NM minuses and one is a CBCS. The other is a CGC of course.

mycomicshop - One raw FN+ copy is all that's here for now.

ComicConnect - Only three copies here so far and one of them is CGC 9.4 NM for those who prefer slabs. Other options are raw copies, and they are a VF minus and a VG.

Begins Kree-Skrull War story crossover

The nine part epic Kree-Skrull War is a definite fan-favorite and begins in Avengers #89. Captain Marvel guest stars in this issue, and the story lasts from Avengers #89 through 97 to Amazing Adventures #5 through issue #8.

Because the Kree and Skrulls are at war, earth and it's heroes are caught up in the chaos. The Inhumans, Avengers, Captain Marvel, and Fantastic Four all crossover throughout the story that spans two titles. This comic was published June, 1971.

eBay - Looks like there's quite a bit of copies of this up on the mighty eBay at the time of this writing. Four slabbed options here with the highest a 9.2 Signature Series. Other three are a 6.5 FN+, a 7.0 FN/VF, and 5.5 FN minus.

mycomicshop - Two raw copies here only, and they are a FN/VF and a GD/VG. The lower grade one is in stock.

1st DC & Marvel intercompany crossover
1st Spiderman intercompany crossover
1st meeting of Superman and Spider-Man
When it comes to the two biggest comic book publishers crossing over their two biggest characters, this is the first. DC Comics already had major intercompany crossovers during the Golden Age with the Justice Society of America in All-Star Comics, but the original Flash and Green Lantern were later absorbed into DC Comics from All-American Publications in 1944.

Kinda amazing that it took so long to have characters from these two giant comic publishers finally meet. Although I'm not really big on intercompany crossovers between Marvel and DC Comics, this is a historical key issue for fans of both characters. January, 1976 is the publishing date.

eBay - Quite a limited selection going on at the moment on eBay. All raw and all lower grade and not exactly cheap either.

mycomicshop - A few raw copies here with the highest a VF minus, and it's an auction coming up in March. 2nd highest is a FN minus followed by a VG+.

1st Nightcrawler classic crossover

Nightcrawler is the main focus in this story, although Wolverine and Colossus do appear very briefly in this comic. Spidey and Nightcrawler also have a very short battle until the Punisher interupts, and this is the first crossover for Nightcrawler outside of the X-Men.

Pretty minor classic crossover, but it does start the story that would eventually introduce Jigsaw in the next issue. Amazing Spider-Man #161 was published October, 1976.

eBay - Quite a few copies here. Raw copies are extremely affordable. CGC copies aren't too bad either. A few9.8s and 9.6 NM+s.

ComicConnect - Two CGC copies and two raw copies available. CGC copies are a 9.6 NM+ and a 9.4 NM. Raw copies are a FN+ and a FN minus.

mycomicshop - Three CGC 9.8 copies here and one 9.6 NM+. Two raw copies as well and they are a VG+ and a VG. Raw copies are in actual stock.

ComicLink - Six CGC copies here at the moment. All are high grade even though there is only one 9.8 currently. Four 9.6 NM+s though and a 9.4 NM. Lowest copy is a 9.2 NM minus.

1st Scott Lang as Ant-Man crossover
3rd appearance of Scott Lang as Ant-Man
4th appearance of Scott Lang
This was featured in a High Grade Alert, and although I did note it as the 3rd appearance of Scott Lang as Ant-Man and the 4rth appearance of Scott Lang, I didn't note it as the 1st Scott Lang as Ant-Man crossover.

Movie is coming out and the last time I talked about this one it was under the radar and not well-known. Maybe it still is. We'll have to see below. August, 1979 was when this comic issue was published.

eBay - Looks like this one still hasn't caught on a big way. Quite a few raw copies still pretty cheap and still only one CGC copy. It's the 9.6 NM+ Signature Series still from the High Grade Alert.

mycomicshop - Two raw copies here and they are a VF and a FN minus.

NewKadia - Quite a few copies here in stock, but the highest is only a VF+. A VF copy is the 2nd highest and the lowest two are a FN minus and a VG. There mid grade copies also.

ComicLink - CGC 9.6 NM+ copy here and only for $100 at the time of this writing.

As stated in Part 9, it's time to take a breather from this beast. I will be getting back to it in the near future, but it's time to whip up some other comic goodness.

When I do get back to this series, it will be more of a clean up job. There are some I did miss or are out of publishing date order, so if you see these again in a future post, it's because I added more issues in the previous parts and had to push that specific issue into the post after it.

So don't be alarmed if you see that. Anyways, if you missed Part 9, the PREVIOUS link below can take you back. Part 11 is coming up in the near future.

Crossover Comic Book Key Issues Part 9

Zipping along and we've finally made our way to Part 9. Once again, this is the crossover key issues series and deals with mainly guest starring appearances and other important crossovers.

We will mostly cover the major important ones, but that doesn't mean I'll slip in a few that aren't major ones as well. So, let's stop beating around the bush and get to the good stuff.

If you missed Part 8, click the link to head on back. If you're ready for Part 9, carry on and hope you enjoy.

5th Zatanna classic crossover
5th appearance of Zatanna
Ends Zatanna's Search story event

Here we are with the last chapter to the crossover story event concerning Zatanna's search for her father Zatara. Of course, she states that she found him, and Batman doesn't recall ever meeting Zatanna.

So not sure whether to note this as the first meeting between Zatanna and Batman or Detective Comics #336. I suppose this is the first real meeting between Batman and Zatanna.

Other than that, this is the 5th Zatanna crossover and her 5th appearance in comics, and no she is not a member of the Justice League of America just yet. February, 1967 was when this comic was published.

eBay - Not quite as many copies as I thought there would be for this issue. Only a few raw unslabbers up on eBay at the moment. Only one CGC 9.2 NM minus in terms of slabbed copies there at the moment.

mycomicshop - One CGC 9.2 NM minus and two low grade raw copies. Raw copies are in actual stock though.

ComicConnect - CGC 9.4 NM and a raw 8.5 VF+ located here.

1st Inhumans classic crossover

Although the Inhumans did have their own back up stories in Thor's Tales of Asgard, they never really crossed over into another story outside of the Fantastic Four and Thor. Well, not until they landed into Submariner #2.

The Inhumans are featured in this story, but the main confrontation happens between Namor and Triton. On the heels of Destiny (not the X-Men character), Namor runs into the Plant Man and soon finds himself a pawn against Triton.

Submariner #2 and the first Inhumans classic crossover was published June, 1968.

eBay - Raw copies available and some are high grade or claiming they are. CGC 9.8 copy is up on eBay and has the old label. 9.4 NM Signature Series signed by Stan Lee, and a CGC 8.5 VF+ and an 8.0 VF PGX.

mycomicshop - FN minus raw copy goes up for auction in early March. One VG+ copy is in actual stock and another VG copy is on consignment. All are raw copies.

ComicConnect - Only one CGC and it's a 9.4 NM. Rest are raw copies, and they are a 6.5 FN+ and a FN minus.

ComicLink - Only one CGC 9.6 NM+ and a 9.2 NM minus here at the moment. All slabbed copies and no raw.

2nd Medusa classic crossover

Looks like Medusa gets quite a bit of play outside of the Inhumans team, and in Amazing Spider-Man #62, the wife of Black Bolt gets her 2nd classic crossover in comics. She is the only Inhuman to show up in the main story, and her and the Webslinger do go toe to toe in an epic battle.

Unfortunately, Spidey is made a fool by Montgomery G. Bliss and tricked into fighting Medusa, who was on a good will mission on behalf of the Inhuman nation. Not all that well-known in the market just yet, but this is a classic cover by John Romita Sr.

Amazing Spider-Man #62 and the 2nd Medusa crossover was published July, 1968.

eBay - Doesn't seem to be a problem finding this one on eBay. Plenty in the search results and most look like raw copies. CGC are present as well, and the highest located so far is a 9.8. 9.6 NM+s are present and only one is decently priced. There's also 9.4 NMs and other grade options as well.

mycomicshop - CGC 9.6 NM+ copy here. The rest are all raw, and they are two FNs and a FN minus. The FN minus copy is going up for auction.

ComicConnect - CGC 9.8 and a CGC 9.4 NM located here at the moment. There are also four raw copies, and the highest is a NM minus.

ComicLink - About eight CGC copies here and all are high grade. The high grade goodness starts off with two 9.8s and a 9.6 NM+. There's also a 9.4 NM, two 9.2 NM minuses, and two 9.0 VF/NMs as well.

2nd Inhumans classic crossover
First appearance of Evil Inhumans
Remember this one featured in the Inhumans key issues list? Well, here it is again, and although I did talk about this one before, I did not note it as the 2nd Inhumans classic crossover that it is.

My bad. Since announcement of the Inhumans movie, this issue heated up in demand, and it was more because it held the first appearance of the Evil Inhumans. Not any surprise that speculation has the Evil Inhumans making an on screen appearance in the near future.

As far as crossover key issues go though, this is the 2nd Inhumans classic crossover as a team, and they do go at it with the Hulk. October, 1968was when King Size Special Hulk #1 was published.

eBay - Only a few copies here and most are raw. There are three CGC copies and two of them are 9.6 NM+s. Lowest is a 9.4 NM.

mycomicshop - Raw copies here only at the moment and the highest is a VG+. Lowest is a VG minus.

1st Black Panther classic crossover
1st appearance of Whiplash
Here we go: First Black Panther classic crossover and guess what? He crosses over into a Captain America story in Tales of Suspense #97.

This is the first time the Black Panther is brought into another character's story outside of a Fantastic Four comics and sets up his very first meeting with Captain America. In the Iron Man feature, Tales of Suspense #97 also has the first appearance of Whiplash. So more than meets the eye with this key issue comic for sure.

Tales of Suspense #97 was published January, 1968.

eBay - No problem finding this one on eBay at the time of this writing. Raw copies and CGC copies located. Two 9.6 NM+s are the top grades for now, but there are more affordable options like the 9.4 NMs currently up there. Of course, there are raw copies as well to sift through.

mycomicshop - One CGC 9.4 NM and a raw GD/VG copy here at the time of this writing.

NewKadia - Only one VG+ copy here presently.

ComicConnect - Four CGC copies starting with a 9.6 NM+ and a 9.2 NM minus. Other two copies are a PGX 8.5 VF+ and a CGC 6.0 FN Signature Series. There are also two high grade raw copies, and they are NM minus and a VF/NM.

ComicLink - Four CGC copies here also. Highest are a 9.6 NM+ and 9.4 NM. Other two copies are a 7.0 FN/VF and a CGC 6.0 FN Signature series that's probably the same one at ComicConnect.

2nd Black Panther classic crossover
1st meeting between Black Panther and Captain America
Definitely fitting to have Black Panther first appear on screen in Captain America Civil War, and yep it is the first time Black Panther and Captain America meet. They go at for it a bit as well, so Tales of Suspense #98 is the first Black Panther and Captain America battle also.

Since Black Panther will make his onscreen debut in the next Captain America movie, this comic should've heated up. However, it's still under the radar and quite over-looked Black Panther key issue.

Historical significance in comic terms? Captain America is the first of the Avengers that Black Panther meets from the superhero team, and it would take Black Panther's 2nd classic crossover for this meeting to happen. Tales of Suspense #98 was published February, 1968.

eBay - Selection is a bit limited. Quite a few raw copies, and only one CGC copy at the moment. The slab is a very high grade 9.6 NM+.

NewKadia - Only one VG minus copy available at the time of this writing. May change in the future.

ComicConnect - One CGC 9.6 NM+ and a raw VF currently available here for now.

Yep, we got some over-looked ones here at certain NM grades. I'm sure you'll be able to spot them, but that pretty much depends on what you think is expensive or not.

We shall be carrying this to a Part 10 it looks like, but I think I'll be taking a breather from this for a bit after the next part. I think you all are probably getting bored of this series also, but I shall be returning to it.

So if you missed Part 8, the PREVIOUS link below is there for clicking if need be. To continue, just click the PART 10 link below.

Crossover Key Comic Book Issues Part 8

Welcome to Part 8 of this crossover key issues series. No doubt that there are quite of over-looked key comic book issues in this one, and many aren't known all that well for their significance just yet.

Not to say that some aren't already expensive in super high grades, but quite a few have not reached overly ridiculous prices in the market just yet. If you missed Part 7, just click the link to go back and read that.

Let's get Part 8 rollin' and reveal some more of these crossover key comic book issues!

1st meeting Spider-Man & Dr. Strange
3rd Dr. Strange classic crossover

Now, I know there will be some who will pop up in the comments and debate about this being the 1st meeting between Dr. Strange and Spider-Man. What I mean by 1st meeting is 1st published meeting between the two characters. It's the first time we see these characters interact in a comic or story.

Of course, there is a modern 1st meeting in which Kurt Busiek and Roger Stern wrote a meeting between Spidey and Dr. Strange that precedes all their meetings before it in Untold Tales of Spider-Man Strange Encounter #1. That's a retconned first meeting published in 1998, and although it does chronologically precede Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2, I don't care much for retconned first anythings that happened in the Modern Age of comics.

So this is the first published meeting of Spider-Man and Dr. Strange, and Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2 happens to be the 3rd Dr. Strange classic crossover. This comic was published October, 1965.

eBay - Quite a bit of raw copies for this over-looked key at the moment. CGC 8.5 VF+ is the highest slab. Two 7.0s and other mid-grade options.

mycomicshop - Eight, all low grade raw copies only. Highest is a VG+ and all downhill from there.

ComicConnect - Two CGC copies and one is a 9.6 NM+ that's pretty up there in price. There's also a CGC 7.5 VF minus and a few raw copies as well.

ComicLink - Two CGC copies here and the highest is a 7.0 FN/VF.  Other slab is a 5.0 VG/FN and it's a PGX. Two VG raw copies are the only unslabbers here for now.

1st Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD crossover
2nd Nick Fury classic crossover
1st Huge Marvel crossover

This issue is the first time that almost every Marvel character is packed into one issue. It's a mega issue for sure and deals with Sue Storm and Reed Richard's wedding. Of course, mostly every single superhero would be present, and of course, almost every villain would want to crash it.

As featured in the SHIELD key issues recently published, Fantastic Four Annual #3 also has the 1st Nick Fury as an agent of SHIELD classic crossover. The SHIELD agents are doing security for the wedding and obviously didn't do a very good job. As a character, this is the 2nd Nick Fury crossover, and the 1st SHIELD crossover just to give it a little more umphff.

Fantastic Four Annual #3 was published October, 1965.

eBay - Selection appears to be pretty limited for this monster crossover Fantastic Four key. A few low grade raw copies and only two CGC slabs. Highest CGC is an 8.0 and under the $200 mark at the time of this writing. It's followed by a 7.5 VF minus, and the 8.0 VF has a way better price.

ComicLink - Only one CGC 6.5 FN+ and a raw FN/VF at the moment.

3rd Zatanna classic crossover
3rd appearance of Zatanna
1st meeting of Zatanna and Green Lantern

No mistake that this is the 3rd full appearance of Zatanna, and she is fully part of this story that takes place in Green Lantern #42. Yes, this issue also sees the first meeting between Zatanna and Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

I'm noting this as Zatanna's 3rd classic crossover. She is as herself throughout the issue, and it's a bit fishy why she would need to disguise herself in Detective Comics #336 when she meets all the other DC heroes in this storyline perfectly fine as herself? Kinda lame, and I'm debating about taking Detective Comics #336 off this list all together.

I think I'll leave it on. Maybe industry will recognize it the way I'm calling it sometime in the future. Green Lantern #42 was published January, 1966.

eBay - Pretty limited amount of copies on eBay for this one, and it's another over-looked key issue as well.  Mostly all raw, but there is one CGC 9.4 NM. Price is a bit too high for what I'd pay for this issue though.

mycomicshop - Raw VG, GD+ and GD in actual stock for the moment.

NewKadia - Only one VG+ copy in stock at NewKadia. May change by the time you read this.

ComicConnect - Looks like the same 9.4 NM CGC copy is also here at ComicConnect. Didn't check to see which price is cheaper or if they're the same. The rest are raw copies and the highest is an 8.5 VF+.

1st Teen Titans classic crossover?
Wedding issue

I'm pretty sure if the Teen Titans live action TV series becomes an on-going series, there will be a lot DC characters that will crossover in the show just like Arrow and the Flash. This is not a very well-known and nobody is noting this issue as the first Teen Titans crossover.

This issue sees the marriage of Elasti-Girl and Mento, and the orignal Teen Titans along with the Justice League of America are seen in attendance at their wedding. They have a cameo appearance within the story, and this may not count as a full crossover.

However, I don't see why it wouldn't since many cameos seem to make the cut concerning crossovers. Tales of Suspense #49 and the 1st Avengers crossover being a good example. Doom Patrol #104 was published June, 1966.

eBay - Very limited selection. Only a little more than a handful of copies. One CGC 8.5 VF+ copy for super cheap.

mycomicshop - Only one VG+ in stock for now.

ComicConnect - One NM copy and a GD/VG here at the moment. Only copies present and both are raw.

ComicLink - High grade, gorgeous, CGC 9.6 NM+ copy here. Only copy available.

4th Zatanna classic crossover
4th appearance of Zatanna

Alrighty, Zatanna furthers her crossover career in this issue, but not in the Batman story. She actually meets the Elongated Man in a back up feature in this issue, and this story continues the first crossover story event in DC Comics.

The story is The Tantalizing Troubles of the Tripod Thieves, and I'm pretty sure this is the first meeting between the Elongated Man and Zatanna as well. Detective Comics #355 was published September, 1966.

eBay - Appears to be quite a few raw copies, but only one CGC 8.5 VF+. Can probably snag that for under the $100 mark. Pretty over-looked Silver Age key Detective Comics key currently.

mycomicshop - Only one VG minus raw copy here.

First Marvel title crossover story

DC was nearly completing Zatanna's Search story event, and it seems Marvel would also have it's first title crossover story as well. However, it was to a much lesser degree that DC Comics.

Weakened from a battle with Krang, Iron Man suddenly finds himself desperately trying to fix and recharge his armor. Before he can do, he is attacked by Submariner.

Apparently, ole Shellhead interfered in Namor's quest to get revenge on Krang for convincing Lady Dorma to run off and marry him. An epic battle ensues that is continued in the pages of Tales To Astonish #82.

Tales to Astonish #82 is the 2nd half of this story, and it is the first time a Marvel story starts off in one title and concludes in a different title. August, 1966 is the publishing date for Tales of Suspense #80.

eBay - Raw copies available and a few slabs. Highest is a 9.6 NM+ with the 2nd highest a 9.4 NM. There's a 9.0 VF/NM at the $200 mark. Last high grade is an 8.0 VF Signature Series. There's only one low grade slabber present at the time of this writing.

mycomicshop - CGC 9.4 NM copy and two raw copies here at the moment. Raw copies are a VG/FN and a GD.

ComicConnect - CGC 9.4 goes up for auction pretty soon at ComicConnect. There's also an 8.0 VF Signature Series available for immediate sale, and two raw copies with the highest a VF+.

ComicLink - Looks like there's an 8.0 VF Signature Series here as well. Probably the same one at ComicConnect. Only copy available at this time.

Alrighty, there's six more crossover key issues. Some are over-looked at certain high grades while their super high grades are already up there. We are still in the Silver Age, and to be honest, this era is the best time for most of these classic crossovers as Marvel and DC were still building upon their Silver Age universes.

Still got quite a few to go. If you missed Part 7, you can click the PREVIOUS link to go back. However, Part 9 is ready so just click the PART 9 link below to continue on!

Crossover Comic Book Key Issues Part 7

Alrighty, pushing through to Part 7 of this crossover key issue comic book series, and there's a quite a few crossovers I've yet to feature here at Total Comic Mayhem. Should be some good stuff in this one so let's just get to it.

If you got these, great! May want to think twice about dumping some of them. If not, there could be some good ones to add to your want list.

As always, you can click this Part 6 link in case you missed it. Other than that, enjoy Part 7 and the key issue goodness presented here.

2nd Dr. Strange classic crossover

The Sorcerer Supreme is plopped into a Thor story of all characters. Seems an odd issue and character to have a 2nd classic crossover with, but it is true.

Dr. Strange summons the help of Thor, and Thor as Donald Blake performs surgery on Dr. Strange after finding that he was severely wounded in a battle with Baron Mordo. The rest of the story is purely Thor, and Thor once again finds his step brother Loki is up to no good.

Journey Into Mystery #108 and the 2nd Dr. Strange classic crossover was published September, 1964.

eBay - Definitely some copies here to snag if you ain't get this one yet and are on the hunt for it. Two 9.4 NMs located. 8.0 VF slabbers are quite affordable and overlooked at the moment. Other graded options available of course, but not many.

mycomicshop - Only two very low grade raw copies here. Highest is a GD+.

ComicConnect - Three copies here with only one of them being a CGC. Slab copy is a 9.0 VF/NM and the two raw copies are a VG, which is going up for auction, and a FN/VF.

ComicLink - Three high grade CGC copies here, and the highest is a whopping 9.6 NM+. A 9.4 NM and an 8.5 VF+ are also here.

1st DC crossover story event
First appearance of Zatanna

When it comes to a story arc that spans multiple titles in comics, Hawkman #4 and the first appearance of Zatanna has to be the first crossover story event to do so. Today, this story arc is better known as Zatanna's Search and is collected as such in reprints.

Hawkman #4 begins the first chapter to this story, and it runs through Detective Comics #336The Atom #19, Green Lantern #42, Detective Comics #355, and ends with Justice League of America #51. However, this is not a major crossover event, but it would set the precedent for those to happen later.

This story dealt with Zatanna trying to reconnect with her father Zatara, and while searching for him, she happens to run into and garner the help of Hawkman, the Atom, Batman, Robin, Green Lantern, and the Elongated Man. DC legend Gardner Fox wrote the story and that's no big surprise.

The legendary comic genius is also responsible for creating the Justice Society of America and the Justice League of America. Hawkman #4 was published November, 1964.

eBay - Absolutely no overlooked comic anymore, and there's only a few copies of this one on the mighty eBay. Quite a few high grade CGCs though. A whopping 9.6 NM+ is present at the time of this writing and quite a few other high grade copies. Even VFs are up there in price in the current market.

mycomicshop - Two slabbed copies here at the moment. One is a CGC 9.0 VF/NM and the other is a CBCS 4.0 VG.

ComicConnect - CGC 9.0 VF/NM and a CGC 7.5 VF minus go up for auction in March. Two other CGC copies for immediate sale and they are a 6.5 FN+ and 4.0 VG. No raw copies here as of this writing.

ComicLink - Only one CGC 8.5 VF+ copy here for now.

2nd Spider-Man x-over in Avengers comic

Already featured this bad boy in a Key Issue Alert, and this is the 2nd time Spider-Man crosses over into the Avengers titled series. Should be a key issue heating up as Spidey will join the Avengers soon on the big screen.

Spidey does meet the members of the Avengers separately in other titles before this one, but he is not shown in any panel interacting with any members of the Avengers in this issue.

Yes, the title and cover of the issue is misleading, and it is actually a robot Spider-Man that meets and battles the Avengers. This issue does have the 2nd appearance of Kang the Conqueror.

Avengers #11 was published December, 1964, and 'Nuff said!

eBay - Selection appears to be a bit limited at the current time of this writing. Only saw a few raw copies and only one CGC 9.4 NM copy. Pretty expensive already though.

mycomicshop - Only one high grade 9.4 NM copy here.

ComicConnect - Three CGC copies with two 9.4 NMs and a 7.5 VF minus.

1st Zatanna classic crossover
2nd appearance of Zatanna as the Witch

Detective Comics #336 doesn't really show the character of Zatanna. She is disguise as the Witch. However, if Ultron has a 1st appearance in disguise as the Crimson Cowl in Avengers #54, I suppose this counts as well.

Of course, this wouldn't be the 2nd full classic crossover or appearance...whatever that truly means. I'm just stating what industry might most likely later note this issue if they ever catch on or care. Anyway, this issue is part of the Zatanna's Search storyline, and that storyline is considered the first DC crossover story event that spans multiple titles.

Detective Comics #336 was published February, 1965.

eBay - Quite overlooked in the market and the selection is limited here at eBay for the moment. Only one CGC 5.0 copy and the rest are raw.

ComicConnect - CGC 9.2 for $200 and a raw 8.0 VF for pretty cheap.

ComicLink - CGC 9.2 copy here as well. Better price than ComicConnect. There's also one raw 8.5 VF+ copy also.

1st full Zatanna classic crossover
2nd full appearance of Zatanna

Okay, here's where things get tricky. So this is the 2nd full appearance of Zatanna. I say full appearance because Zatanna does make an earlier appearance as the Witch in the Detective Comics issue #336. However, she is not revealed to be the Witch in that storyline which is part of the Zatanna's Search story.

Zatanna does not reveal that she was the Witch in disguise until Justice League of America #51, and that she was in disguise to see if The Outsiders knew the location of her father. Uhh, errr, okay.

Well, because she was in disguise, Batman has no recollection of ever meeting Zatanna in Justice League of America #51. So since, she was in disguise, Atom #19 is the first full Zatanna classic crossover as well the 2nd full appearance of Zatanna.

Atom #19 was published June, 1965.

eBay - Only a few raw copies here but not many. Selection is quite limited, and there's no CGC as of this writing yet.

1st Medusa classic crossover
1st Frightful Four classic crossover

Getting into some Inhumans stuff concerning crossovers. Just like Medusa was the first of the Inhumans to make an appearance before the other members of her royal family, she is also the first to make a crossover into another character's title and story.

This time it's once again Thor, but she is obviously not alone. She accompanied by her Frightful Four members, and this is the 1st Frightful Four classic crossover as well. May, 1965 is the publishing date for Journey Into Mystery #116.

eBay - Plenty of copies at the moment. No problem finding a raw copy for sure. CGC is a lot more limited. CGC 9.4 NM is the highest slabber so far. 9.0 VF/NM is at a pretty good price and has a Best Offer option also. Some mid-grade copies as well.

mycomicshop - All raw and all low grade here for now. Highest is a VG minus and the lowest is a GD minus.

ComicConnect - Highest raw grade here is a VF, and all five copies here at the moment are all raw. Lowest grade is a VG.

Part 7 is concluded, and we are still on the Silver Age concerning these crossover key comic book issues. That pretty much means we got quite a few more to go through, so it looks like a Part 8 is in the future here.

Definitely some more DC Comics in this one though. Not easy to dig up those crossovers.
