First Look At Suicide Squad Cast Photo!

In case you've yet to see the new photos of the Suicide Squad that David Ayer tweeted a few hours ago, there it is:

From left to right, we've got Slipknot, Captain Boomerang, Enchantress, Katana, Rick Flagg Jr., Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc and El Diablo.

Obviously, the stand out and most anticipated first look is Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, whom looks great. Although not a close up, Killer Croc looks suspect. Not overly impressed with his look.

Katana is a surprising addition. She was never really an official member of the Suicide Squad and only helped them on a mission to destroy a large hoard of weapons that was about to be sold to the Yakuza in the comics.

Perhaps, she is the link to cement the Justice League of America and Suicide Squad crossing paths in a future movie since Katana is a member of the new Justice League of America that was formed under Amanda Waller.

Katana's first appearance is in Brave and the Bold #200, and Slipknot's first appearance is in Fury of Firestorm #28. El Diablo is obviously the Chato Santana version of the character and is a Suicide Squad member in the New 52. He's played by Hostel and Carlito's Way: Rise to Power star Jay Hernandez.

Ayer also recently tweeted a photo of Will Smith in a full Deadshot attire complete with mask, and I think it looks pretty damn cool. Good to see that they actually put some effort in making the character look somewhat like the comic character.

Fans were worried when a on set photo of Will Smith in a gangsta-like get up was leaked recently, and it looked like the film would be skimping out on a cool Deadshot look. Guess some jumped the gun on that call.

So far, the looks of Harley Quinn and Deadshot are cool. More Harley Quinn please! Wowza! The other characters look pretty bland. Not surprised that Slipknot bears very little resemblance to his comic book costume.

This all comes pretty quickly after we got our first look at Jared Leto as the new Joker. I must say it looks pretty damn creepy in a good way. All in all, I'm still excited about the Suicide Squad.

Now all we need is the casting for Deathstroke in the Suicide Squad. So far Jim Parrock is rumored to have been cast as the character, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Task Force X appears to be assembled and the Suicide Squad movie comes out August 5th 2016. Good stuff!

  1. Maybe it doesn't count as I believe the Sampler is a preview of upcoming books, but isn't Katana's 1st appearance in DC Sampler 1 (January 1983)? Brave and Bold 200 was July 1983. Kind of like how John Constantine appeared in DC Sampler 2 before he showed up in Swamp Thing 37 (although Swamp Thing 25 - cameo - was before DC Sampler 2).

    1. Howdy Cherubim....this is just my opinion so don't it the wrong way. It depends on what camp of the debate you're from. I generally don't consider previews 1st appearances and I'll explain why. If Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was gonna have a first appearance in a movie wiki or something, his first appearance as Wolverine would be the first X-Men movie, not the first X-Men trailer or first photo leaked. It'd be the actual movie or in the case of comics, the actual comic.

I'm not jumping aboard the train that some fans are when it comes to advertisements as first appearances or previews. A small group are, but I'm not buying their argument. So far the first appearance of the Outsiders is marked Brave and the Bold #200 and I tend to agree with it. Just my stance on the issue though.

    2. Swamp Thing #25 is NOT John Constantine, it is a drawing of Sting. Many fans of J.C. are being duped (ripped off) by sellers saying that Swamp Thing #25 is his 1st Appearance. Check out some Stephen Bissette interviews regarding The Sting/Constantine connection and you will see what I'm talking about.

    1. Killer Croc looks pretty bad in that pic. Not a close up, but from the distance of that photo, I'm not impressed with the look.
