Spider-Man Will Join the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

The rumors have run rampant with the Sony hacked emails, and it seems that Marvel and Sony have confirmed a deal that the Webslinger, one of Marvel's most beloved and iconic superheroes, will be featured in the Marvel and Disney cinematic universe. It's no longer a rumor now.

Kevin Feige, the mastermind and producer of the on-screen force that has become Marvel and Disney's head in bringing many of Marvel's beloved as well as obscure characters to the big screen said in recent announcement,

"Amy has been deeply involved in the realization on film of one of the world's most beloved characters. Marvel's involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand from the MCU. I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years."

Apparently, Disney and Marvel made a deal with former Sony executive, Amy Pascal, just before her departure from Sony Studios. Still no word on whether Andrew Garfield is in or out, but it seems the Webslinger will be making a solo movie appearance in 2017.

For Spidey fans who long wanted the rights to revert back to Marvel for a long time, this is obviously good news. Many fans and critics alike have bombarded the new Spider-Man reboot with loud opposition.

This recent news will no doubt change the game plan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that one of Marvel's most iconic superhero comic characters is now in the fold. Exciting and uncertain are two words that come to mind.

Disney chairman Bob Igar even said, "Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world. We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building."

Seems like it's a go...Spider-Man makes his way home back to Marvel. We shall see how this turns out, and expect Spider-Man to be a player in at least one of the Avengers Infinity Wars movies.

Score for Spider-Man fans and some big comic book movie news in 2015!

    1. No telling but last I heard, Sinister Six is still a go. Depends on the level of involvement Kevin Feige has. Sony still has the rights to Spider-Man and creative control. Last I heard Kevin Feige will help produce Spidey and work with Sony. Andrew Garfield is out though.

    1. 316 is when he is given Avengers membership. Avengers #329 is when he is demoted to a reserve member.

    2. And I think 236 is when he applies for the membership.
