2nd Appearance Key Comic Issues Part 14

Rockin' out more 2nd appearance key comic issues, and I did change the title of this series. It will probably stay for a while, but the meat of what this key issues series is still the same.

So we definitely got some Silver Age and Bronze Age goodies to go through in this one, and if you got any of these already, awesome! If not, could be some to consider in the near or later future.

Alright, let's get down with the sickness here. Click this Part 13 link to go back in case you missed it. If you're good to go, hope you enjoy the 2nd appearance key issues in Part 14.

  • 2nd appearance of The Lizard

Getting into some 2nd appearance Spidey villains here, and since the 1st appearance of the Lizard was discussed in a head to head battle with the 1st appearance of Green Goblin, I suppose featuring the 2nd appearance of the Lizard wouldn't hurt.

Of course, this is the actual second appearance of Curt Conners as the Lizard. The character of Curt Conner's does appear in earlier Spidey issues, but he's not seen getting all reptilian in his prior appearances besides issue #6.

I got this issue shortly after I snagged ASM #6, because I thought, Why not? I got both raw copies of the Lizard's first and second appearances at one of my locals. I forget for how much at the top of my head, but it's written down in my logs and was probably cheap as well. It's not high grade, but I should get this one slabbed soon.

2nd appearance of the Lizard in Amazing Spider-Man #44 was published January, 1967.

eBay - Quite a few copies on ole eBay it appears. Seems to be quite a few raw copies and a few slabbers as well. Highest appears to be 7.5s and there's quite a few of them. Most are CGC but one is a CBCS and is a bidding auction. There is a 9.0 but it is Restored.

mycomicshop - One PGX 7.5 VF minus copy here and three raw copies. Highest raw copy is a VG/FN and followed by a VG and GD/VG.

NewKadia - One FN+ copy here. There's also a sale on all Silver Age comics going on NewKadia, but it ends today and is 20% off all Silver Age comics. This is at the time of this writing of course and you should visit the 24 hour sales page to get the promo code so you can use it at check out.

ComicConnect - Three raw copies with the highest being an 8.0 VF. Lowest copy is a 3.5 or VG minus.

ComicLink - The two highest grades here are both VFs and raw copies. Only CGC copy is a 5.0 or VG/FN.

  • 2nd appearance of Jigsaw

I dig Jigsaw. He's one of the more prominent Punisher villains that reoccurs quite often for the hard-nosed and brutal vigilante.

I didn't really like how the character was written in the Punisher: War Zone flick, and I actually thought the actor did a good job with what he was given. Anyways, since I picked up Jigsaw's first appearance a year or two ago, I thought his 2nd appearance would be a nice addition to my vault as well.

Besides, I've yet to feature this key issue on here yet. So here it is and it's not well-known or even noted as Jigsaw's 2nd appearance. Not in Overstreet nor CGC nor most, if not all, the listings on eBay currently.

Yep, this is a first full 2nd appearance of the villain, and January, 1979 was when this comic was when Amazing Spider-Man #188 was published.

eBay - We got a pretty big selection of comics for this on the mighty eBay at the time of this writing. Raw and CGC alike, and there's quite a few 9.8 slabbers listed on there. Some prices better than others but most are still below the $200 mark. Other high grades available as well.

mycomicshop - Wow, quite a few copies here, including six CGC 9.8s with one going up for auction March 2nd and another currently up for auction with only about 3 days left at the time of this writing. Last CGC is a 9.6 NM+ and the rest are raw copies in stock. Highest is only a FN+ though.

NewKadia - Highest copy here is a NM minus followed by a VF+. There's also a VF, a VF minus, and a FN+ in stock.

ComicConnect - Two CGC copies and three raw copies. Both CGC are high grade with one a 9.8 and the other a 9.6 NM+. Two of the raw copies are high grade as well with the highest a NM followed by a VF+. Lowest is a FN.

ComicLink - Only two CGC copies here for now and both are 9.8s. Both slabbers also have the same price as well.

  • 2nd appearance of She-Hulk

A well-known Fantastic Four member and a member of the Avengers also, She-Hulk has been a Marvel fan-favorite for a while, and I think it would be interesting to see this character take over for the Hulk on the big screen.

No doubt that Marvel has plans to introduce more female superheroes on the big screen, She-Hulk is being speculated by some. Jennifer Walters is the cousin of Robert Bruce Banner and it would be fairly easy to connect her in the movies.

I for one would like to see this character assemble on the big screen, but who knows if that will happen. So for now, The Savage She-Hulk #2 holds the 2nd appearance of She-Hulk and it was published March, 1980.

eBay - A decent selection and high grade raw copies have not been over-bloated for this one just yet. Two CGC 9.8s spotted and one is priced ok, but still questionable. 9.6s are within the $60 to $70 range and there's two also at the time of this writing.

mycomicshop - Four copies in stock and the highest is a FN. Lowest are two VGs.

NewKadia - VF+, VF, and VF minus copies here currently.

ComicConnect - One CGC 9.8 and one raw 9.6 NM+ here at the moment.

  • 2nd appearance of Kang the Conqueror

A lot of speculation is surrounding Kang the Conqueror according to fans regarding the movie verse Marvel has in store after Phase 3. With Thanos headlining  the Infinity Wars Part 1 & 2, a lot of fans are wondering just who will take up the spot for the next big bad.

Kang is a popular Avengers villain, and it would be interesting to see him cause our heroes trouble on the big screen. The thing is, who knows if there will even be an Avengers 4 film. Marvel may just go in another direction and have another superhero team be the next epic trilogy that connects a whole new set of heroes together.

Just for reference, though, this is the 2nd appearance of the character as Kang, although his future counterpart did make an appearance in Avengers #10 as Immortus. I'm going by the actual appearance of the character Kang here and not his other known identities.

The 2nd appearance of Kang in Avengers #2 was published December, 1964.

eBay - Got some copies for this 2nd appearance key issue and the few raw that I saw seemed to be in the mid-grade to VF. Highest CGC seems to be two 9.4 NMs and a few 8.5 VF+s were spotted at the time of this writing. Other options available also.

mycomicshop - Three copies here with the highest a CGC 9.4 NM. Next two copies are a FN and VG/FN. The lowest grade copy is up for auction at the time of this writing and about 2 days and some hours left.

ComicConnect - Only two raw low grade copies here and the highest is a VG. Lowest raw copy is a GD/VG.

ComicLink - Only three copies and all are slabbed. Highest are two 9.4 NMs and lowest copy is a 7.5 VF minus.

  • 2nd appearance of the Vulture

Although a 2nd appearance, this comic is pretty much very well-known as the 2nd appearance of the Vulture. Not to mention that this an early key issue within the first 10 issues of the first Amazing Spider-Man series.

Adrian Toomes is Spidey's 2nd ever super villain to cross paths with. His first appearance was in Amazing Spider-Man #2 and he was been an iconic foe for the Webslinger. Definitely no cheap comic investment to snag, but the character will be in the line up for the Sinister Six.

Amazing Spider-Man #7 and the 2nd appearance of the Vulture was published December, 1963.

eBay - Raw copies and slabbers located here at the moment. Saw a 9.0 VF/NM and an 8.5 VF+ copy. 9.0 VF/NM is up for auction and is located in Canada.

mycomicshop - Three copies on consignment here with all of them being raw and low grade. Highest is a VG, 2nd highest a GD minus, and the last is so low it's not even worth mentioning.

ComicConnect - A few copies here with some raw and some CGC. One raw GD/VG copy is up for auction right now as I type this out. A CGC 9.0 VF/NM goes up for auction in March. There's also another 9.0 CGC comic available for immediate purchase if the price is right. Highest raw copy is a VF and the lowest is a VG that's for immediate snagging.

ComicLink - Both slabbed and raw copies here. We got the highest CGC at a 9.0 VF/NM and the 2nd highest a 7.0 FN/VF. Also a mid-grade 6.0 FN and a Restored 4.5 VG+. Three low grade raw copies here as well.

ROM #31
  • 2nd appearance of Rogue

Alrighty, the last time I featured this issue in a sleeper and undervalued list, I wasn't sure if ROM #31 was the 2nd appearance of Rogue or if it was this issue. Although both have the same publishing date, it seems that the story continuity or chronological events (aligned with publishing date) has this Rom #31's story line before Uncanny X-Men #158.

So not does this issue have the 2nd appearance of Rogue in comics, it also has the the 2nd time Rogue appears on a comic cover. Sorry bout the earlier confusion but after some further investigating it appears that Uncanny X-Men #158 is a double whammy key issue.

ROM #31 is Rogue's 2nd appearance and this comic was published in June, 1982.

eBay - Plenty of unslabbers for this comic and really cheap. Only one CGC 9.6 for $95.00 with a Best Offer. You can get this one for under a hundred no problem. I'm surprised there's even a CGC copy for this book.

mycomicshop - Two unslabbed here. One is a VF. The other is a FN. Super cheap copies.

Part 14 is complete, and there is some definite goodness we just covered. Only a few over-looked keys in this one and the very last one not that well-known yet for it's 2nd appearance goodness.

If you got 'em, awesome! If you don't, they could be some good ones to consider.

Wow, can't believe we are going onto number 15 of this series. I think it may be the longest key comic issues series yet. Oh, well, if you missed Part 13, just click the PREVIOUS link to head on back. Part 15 is ready so just click the link below to continue reading the key issue goodness.
