X-Men TV Series On The Table At FOX

Can we say too much of something isn't always a good thing? Well, apparently not, but we got more comic book tv news for ya.

With all the superhero comic book hype and interest, it seems the studios have no problem milking this cow until it's dried up. With the race for other studios to expand on their comic book properties, it wasn't too long ago that rumors surfaced about those at FOX considering an X-Factor TV series.

Now, it seems that the deals on the table being negotiated for FOX are for an X-Men TV series, and they've been confirmed by boss Gary Newman. Also, Days of Futures Past writer Simon Kinberg has also stated that it makes sense with all that Marvel is doing with the Netflix television series and how comics are better suited for television due to their serialized format.

Not to mention that a television series is a great way to introduce new faces from the X-Men universe that have yet to make their debut live action. Definitely a good thing for some comic fans who are in a frenzy to see live action portrayals of fan-favorite characters.

While there's no doubt that comic book superheroes are the kings of entertainment media at the moment, the question of when is too much too much looms in the background? There's already quite a bit of competition concerning comic book television shows and DC Comics seems to have the lions share in that department.

It would make sense for Marvel and FOX to attempt an X-Men television series in order to compete with DC Comics, but with all the shows already airing, is the market big enough to sustain all these various shows already out or in the works? Or, will another comic book related show just get buried?

As a huge fan of the comics, it will be pretty interesting to see how they handle the movie continuity with the television series, and I hope they don't focus too much on the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters too much. With TV, there's always that temptation to turn a TV series into some teen drama.

What characters will be the new faces of the X-Men for this small screen series? That I'm highly interested in, but I guess we will just have to wait and see.
