2nd Appearance Comics To Invest In Part 4

Alright, more 2nd appearance comics to invest in, and we are at Part 4 to this series. Definitely got some over-looked ones and some solid key issue comic investments as well. Some just may be driven up by speculation, but definitely not all of them in this part.

If you missed Part 3, click the link to go back. If you're ready for the next batch, let's get Part 4 on!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #51
2nd appearance of Kingpin

This is a solid comic to invest in, and I'm surprised it's still pretty under-valued for a Silver Age Amazing Spider-Man key issue. With the Daredevil Netflix TV series and the Kingpin already announced as the main villain, many were keen to snag up his first appearance in issue #50 but somehow over-looked #51.

Not exactly under the radar as most know of this key issue, but the best word for it is "over-looked" currently for CGC VF and VF+ grades. May even want to try your luck with 9.0s and 9.2s if you can catch an auction and prefer slabbed. Actually, you may get them all cheaper if it's an auction

May want to jump on this one soon if you don't have it. If you do, the market just may catch on this one a lot more and pretty soon. Besides, it's an Amazing Spider-Man key issue!

eBay - No problem finding this key issue on the mighty eBay at the moment. Plenty of raw copies if you prefer those and quite a few CGCs. Highest is a 9.4 NM and already pricey. A few in the VF range also.

mycomicshop - One FN/VF copy on consignment and seems a bit over-bloated for a raw 7.0. Can find this much cheaper at higher grades elsewhere for sure.

ComicConnect - Two auctions are running right now and both are raw but one is a VF. Two highest grades are a raw VF+ and a VF+ CGC graded copy and available for immediate sale. Mid-grade and low grade raw copies available also.

ComicLink - Four copies here with four of them being CGC. Highest are two 8.5 VF+s and there are two 8.0 VFs with one of them being a raw copy.

DAREDEVIL #169
2nd appearance of Elektra

The first appearance of Elektra in Daredevil #168 isn't that expensive of a buy in CGC 9.4 NMs, so raw copies of that issue are probably even more affordable. With that being said, chances are the 2nd appearance of Elektra in Daredevil #169 just may still be a really cheap buy.

Most likely over-looked since her 1st appearance hasn't sky rocketed into crazy land just yet. If you're a fan like I am, this one may be a good one to get in high grades while they're still cheap.

eBay - Quite a few copies for this one as well. Raw copies are plentiful and there are some CGC options. Spotted a few CGCs and most are a tad high for 9.6 NM+s. There is a 9.8 that's below the $250 mark. Some other CGC options but not many.

mycomicshop - Bunch of copies here with three of them being CGC slabs. Highest is a 9.8 and the other two are CGC 9.6s. Rest are unslabbed copies and the highest is a VF that's up for auction with only about a day left. Most raw copies are in stock.

ComicConnect - Raw 9.0 VF/NM copy here. Only copy of this 2nd appearance so far.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #195
2nd appearance of Black Cat
Origin of Black Cat

Ah, there's so many rumors surrounding Sony's hold on the Spider-Man franchise. We've been hearing rumors about an Amazing Spider-Man spin-off movie with a female lead, a Venom/Carnage movie being dumped, and the latest that Andrew Garfield may be getting the boot as well.

Wow! If the rumored plans that are gathering heat about Sony returning the rights to Marvel, it may appear that Marvel will want to start fresh and with their own version of Spidey. Andrew Garfield no more Spidey, Sinister Six movie no more, female led Spidey spin-off no more. Poof! Could be bad news for those who invested in these books and paid premium prices if this happens to be true.

Anyhow, Amazing Spider-Man #195 has the 2nd appearance of Black Cat, and I really just added this to the list because I wanted to share the rumors going around about Spider-Man's turmoil in the movie franchise. This 2nd appearance key issue is surprisingly over-looked in the market, and it's a double whammy that also has the origin of Felicia Hardy and how she becomes the Black Cat.

Might want to check your collections to see if you got a high grade copy. If you don't and are looking to add another Amazing Spider-Man key issue to your vault, slabbed NM+ copies are going for well under the $200 mark currently. Amazing Spider-Man #195 was published August, 1979.

eBay - Definitely not scarce on eBay for this 2nd appearance of Black Cat. Only a little more than a handful of CGC copies though. Spotted two 9.8s and a few 9.6 NM+s as well. No auctions for this one just yet.

mycomicshop - Only raw copies here and the highest is a low VF on consignment.

ComicConnect - A 9.4 NM raw copy is up for auction here. A CGC 9.8 is available for immediate sale as well as a raw 9.0 VF/NM. CGC copy is under the $200 mark.

ComicLink - Four CGC copies here. One is a 9.8 but a pedigree copy and quite over-bloated. The rest are three CGC 9.6 NM+s and all are under the $100 mark.

JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #88
2nd appearance of Loki

Another comic that Jessie Ritter commented about, and it is another solid comic investment from the Silver Age. 2nd appearance of Loki is in Journey Into Mystery #88, and the character on screen has been a pretty big hit so far thanks to good writing and the acting of Tom Hiddleston.

Mid-grade 6.0 to lower grade VGs are over-looked in the market and not that ridiculously expensive considering this to be a 2nd appearance of a major villain in the Silver Age. Good call on this one again Jessie and thanks for suggesting it. January, 1963 was when the 2nd appearance of Loki was published.

eBay - Limited selection for this one and that's no surprise. A few raw copies here and about five CGC slabs. Highest is a VF+ 8.5 and there is a 3.5 low VG for pretty cheap. Mid-grade copies also available.

mycomicshop - For those who don't mind super low grade, there's a raw FR/GD 1.5 copy in stock here at the moment.

ComicConnect - Three raw copies here and the highest is a VF+. There's also a FN and a VG/FN for considerably less.

ComicLink - Only two copies here at the moment. One is a CGC 9.4 NM and the other a 5.5 low FN.

DAREDEVIL #132
2nd appearance of Bullseye

Bullseye is a favorite Daredevil villain of mine. Actually, him, Elektra, and Kingpin are the only villains out Daredevil's rogues that I'm a fan of. Was highly disappointed with Elektra and Bullseye's portrayals in the Daredevil flick, but I won't get into that.

So continuing with the 2nd appearance goodness, Daredevil #132 is the 2nd appearance of Bullseye, and I'm hoping that Marvel Studios gives this character another go at least on the small screen. This comic right now isn't hot or sought out and is pretty over-looked in the market.

Raw copies are pretty cheap and CGC 9.4 NMs are still well under the $200 mark. If this cat makes an appearance in the Daredevil Netflix TV series, his 1st appearance and 2nd appearance just may get a nice boost. Daredevil #132 was published April, 1976.

eBay - No shortage of copies here for this one on eBay, especially for raw copies and you can get them quite cheap. CGC copies spotted but only two at the moment. Highest is a 9.4 NM and the other copy is a 9.0 VF/NM. I'm sure more will pop up if you prefer slabbers.

mycomicshop - Two CGC copies with the highest being a 9.4 NM and the 2nd copy an 8.0 VF that's up for auction but ending in mere hours. Probably be done by the time you read this. Last option here is a VG/FN in stock.

ComicConnect - Four copies here with three of them being raw copies. One of the raw copies is currently up for auction. There is a CGC 9.6 NM+ and it's a 30 cent price variant for this issue.

ComicLink - Another 30 cent price variant slabber that's a 9.6 NM+ and much cheaper than the one on ComicConnect. Other slabbed copy here is a CGC 7.0 Signature Series.

TALES TO ASTONISH #35
2nd appearance of Ant-Man (Henry Pym)
1st Ant-Man in costume
Gotta make sure to put the Henry Pym in there, since the Marvel movies will be focusing on Scott Lang. Still, this is the original and the more solid comic investment out of the two. Not only is this the 2nd appearance of Henry Pym, it's the first time Henry Pym is in the Ant-Man costume. You can say it's the first appearance of Henry Pym as Ant-Man also.

Definitely a more sought out key and still going strong. This is already hot in the market and has been for a while. I featured this one in the Tales to Astonish key issues a while back and even further back in an Ant-Man key issues to get post, but LK mentioned this one in a comment recently and brought it back to the front of my mind. No longer cheap in high grades for sure.

An unslabbed copy might yield you a better deal, but the risk of restoration will still be there. Still, a very solid comic investment if you can get a great deal on it. September, 1962 is when this solid comic investment was published.

eBay - As expected, there's a limited selection at the moment as this comic has been on the hot burner for some time. There are 12 CGC graded copies though. Quite a few low grade copies and a few high grade slabbers also. Highest is are two 9.2 low NMs and one of them is a Signature Series. Wowza!

mycomicshop - Two raw copies on consignment here. Highest is a VG and the lowest is a GD/VG.

ComicConnect - Slabbed 8.0 VF copy here. It says it's CGC but the pic is of a CBCS slab. A raw VG+ copy here as well.

ComicLink - Four copies here and all are CGC so far. Lowest grade are two 3.0 GD/VGs and the highest is a CBCS 8.0 VF that looks to be the same copy on ComicConnect. There's also a PGX 5.0 copy as well.

There's Part 4, and quite a few inexpensive ones, depending on your definition of inexpensive. However, quite a few can be snagged quite cheap if you gun for a raw copy. Also some of the slabbers are below the $250 mark, especially if you catch an auction, but some are decently priced.

If you missed Part 3, click the PREVIOUS link to head on back. If not, there are surely more 2nd appearance comics to invest in coming up. Part 5 is ready so click the PART 5 link below to continue with more key issue comic investments. Thanks for reading, commenting, and sharing.
