Suicide Squad Key Issues Part 7

We've made it to Part 7 of this Suicide Squad key issues list, and we are finishing up the key issues from the volume one titled series, minus the first appearances that was already covered in earlier parts. The 2nd part of this post will move right along into the very few key issues from the 2nd self-titled series.

Really, there isn't many so don't expect a lot from volume 2. We will actually be finishing up both volume one and two in Part 7.

If you missed Part 6, just click the link to go back. Otherwise, enjoy Part 7!

SUICIDE SQUAD #34 VOLUME 1
Death of Briscoe

As detailed earlier, this is where Briscoe, the pilot of the Suicide Squad, dies. It's in this story arc where Duchess (Lashina) manipulates her teammates to go to Apokolips.

Not an overly sought out key issue or comic investment worthy at the moment, but if you're looking for Suicide Squad key comics just to have, this one may be one to consider if you're a fan.

eBay - Limited selection of raw copies available and no CGC available for this issue. Not sure if there will be either.

mycomicshop - One raw VF copy in stock at mycomicshop at the time of this writing.

NewKadia - NewKadia has two raw copies. One is a low NM and the other a VF+.

SUICIDE SQUAD #36 VOLUME 1
Death of Flo Crawley
Apparent death of Lashina (Duchess)
Apparent death of Dr. Light

Mentioned earlier, this is the issue where Dr. Light gets his courage on and confronts a bunch of parademons in Apokolips. Quite a few deaths in this issue just besides Dr. Light's apparent death.

Flo Crawley dies in this issue, whose first appearance was in Suicide Squad #1 and was a supporting character until this issue. Also Lashina (Duchess) supposedly dies when Darkseid appears and settles the conflict. Upset that Lashina brought humans to Apokolips, Darkseid ends Lashina in this issue. December, 1989 is the publishing date for this minor key issue.

eBay - Very limited amount of copies for this very minor key issue. No surprise there. Maybe a dollar bin snag at your local.

mycomicshop - Only raw copies here and there are three at the moment. One copy is VF, middle copy is a FN, and the last option is a VG.

NewKadia - One low NM copy in stock at NewKadia.

SUICIDE SQUAD #47 VOLUME #1
Death of Ravan

The character of Ravan would first appear as a member of the Jihad and a foe of the Suicide Squad. He would fight against them on several occasions. His first appearance is in Suicide Squad #1, and Ravan is an Indian assassin who believed he had to kill in order to stop the coming of the goddess Kali and thus the age of Kali Yuga, the Age of Chaos.

He would later be recruited by the Suicide Squad, but only joins so he can stop his nemesis Kobra, who is trying to usher in the Age of Chaos. He became an instrumental team member and helped Amanda Waller to assassinate the L.O.A., which was done in an earlier mission prior to this one.

In this issue, Ravan dies in a mission when he finally battles his nemesis Kobra one on one. November, 1990 was when this comic was published.

eBay - Much like the other keys in Part 7, not many copies and all are raw on the mighty eBay at the moment.

mycomicshop - Only one raw VF copy in stock at the moment.

NewKadia - Only one VF+ copy in stock here.

SUICIDE SQUAD #1 VOLUME 2
1st issue to second titled series
Death of Big Sir
Death of Clock King
Because we all know that the Suicide Squad movie franchise can pick characters from any of the titled series, issue #1 from volume 2 goes on this list as well. The only staple characters from the first series to be in the 2nd series are Deadshot and Amanda Waller.

The team is even led by Sgt Rock. However in this issue, the Suicide Squad is comprised of Big Sir, Clock King, Cluemaster, Major Disaster, and Multi-Man. Big Sir and Clock King die in this issue. November, 2001 is the publishing date for this comic.

eBay - No CGC, no surprise. There are a few raw copies available and quite a few are in complete sets for pretty cheap.

mycomicshop - Highest copy is a raw VF followed by a FN. Last option is a only a VG.

NewKadia - Two NM copies in stock. One is a NM+ and the other a regular NM. Both extremely affordable.

SUICIDE SQUAD #2 VOLUME 2
First appearance of Havana
First appearance of Modem
So this one won't go in the first appearances section of this Suicide Squad key issues list for volume two members as it is already listed here. For the record, this is the first appearance of Havana and Modem.

They have a very short time as members of the Suicide Squad and die within the volume 2 titled series. Modem and Havana are rookies of the team.

Volume 2 of the Suicide Squad titled series was not written by Jay Ostrander. It was written by Keith Giffen. It was very short-lived. This comic was published December, 2001.

eBay - Pretty limited selection. Most of these issues are in comic lots on the mighty eBay at the moment.

mycomicshop - VF raw copy is the only copy in stock here at the time of this writing.

NewKadia - One NM+ and a NM copy at NewKadia at the time of this writing.

SUICIDE SQUAD #11 VOLUME 2
Death of Modem

Not that sought out of a key issue, but Modem dies in this issue when the Squad goes up against their old foe Jihad, now named Onslaught. Not much more to say about this Modern Age comic.

You can probably still get this comic for super cheap. Maybe even the entire series in a lot. Suicide Squad #11 from the 2nd series was published September, 2002.

eBay - Even more scarce on the mighty eBay. Not because it's rare, but because it's not really sought after much at all. Very few raw copies of this issue on eBay.

mycomicshop - Only a VF and a FN copy in stock. Both are raw.

NewKadia - NM+ and a NM copy in stock at NewKadia for now.

SUICIDE SQUAD #12 VOLUME 2
Death of Havana
Last issue to volume 2
Death of Rustam
The newly created character of Havana dies in this issue at the hands of Onslaught. Extremely minor character within the DCU, so this issue isn't really all that sought out or cared for.

Rustam, team leader of Jihad or Onslaught, also gets it in this issue, and as mentioned prior, the volume two series did not last long at all. Suicide Squad #12 is the last issue to volume two and it was published October, 2002.

eBay - A few raw copies, but not many. As expected only raw copies and pretty cheap for a reason.

mycomicshop - VF, FN, and VG copies in stock and all are raw for the meantime.

NewKadia - Only one copy here at the moment, but it is a NM+ copy.

Part 7 is wrapped up, and as of the market place now, none of these comics are really in demand or valuable. They are Suicide Squad key comics though.

In Part 8, we are going to cover the first appearances of the 2nd incarnation of the team, and there are a few comic investment worthy keys concerning that. Part 8 is ready with more Suicide Squad key comics soon, so just click the link to continue.
