Venom Movie Now Called Venom Carnage

Yep, you read the title right. It looks like Sony just upped the ante for their confirmed Venom movie. Fans were high-fiving at the news but at the same time scratching their heads on how this was going to work without Spidey in the mix.

Well, now, they can scratch their heads some more because the Venom movie got a change in name to Venom Carnage. It's common sense from the name alone that we be certain that Carnage will be the big bad in this flick, and that means the Cletus Kasady and Carnage will make their first big onscreen debut.

Good news for fans. Even better news for those who own a high grade copy of Amazing Spider-Man #361, the first full appearance of Carnage. Right now, CGC 9.8s are falling above the $200 mark for the first appearance of this creepy crawler, and the first appearance of Venom in Amazing Spider-Man #300 have finally passed the $1000 mark for CGC 9.8s.

Right now, the only real news to really sink your teeth into about this so called Venom Carnage is that Alex Kurtzman is attached to direct and write the script with Ed Solomon. Oh, yes, and that it's slated to come out in 2017.

Other than that, nothing really much else has been leaked. Well, if you count Sony's plans for a female led comic book movie and much of the speculation surrounding that. Black Cat! Spider-Woman! Black Cat! Spider-Woman!

Kevin Smith even speculated that it just may be Spider-Woman, but to be honest, I'm more like whoopty doo! I'd much rather have a Black Cat movie, because honestly, there's going to be enough creepy crawler movies coming out with Amazing Spider-Man 3 and now Venom Carnage. A Spider-Woman movie just may be over-saturation. So I hope Black Cat gets the spot, but back on topic.

Cletus Kasady is a serial killer with some deep rooted problems. He killed his grandmother by pushing her down a flight of stairs as a child and tried to kill his mother. Needless to say, he would end up becoming a serial killer in adulthood and was captured and sent to prison, where he shared a cell with none other than Eddie Brock.

The alien symbiote later returned to claim Eddie, but left behind an offspring who attached himself to Kasady by entering his bloodstream through a cut. Thus, Carnage was born.

So in light of recent news, we are seeing ASM #361 on the hot burner, but there's still the first appearance of Cletus Kasady that's in a warm simmer. That's right Amazing Spider-Man #344 hasn't quite caught on yet, but I'm predicting that it soon will.

Long-term comic investment for the first appearance of Cletus Kasady? Probably not. Short-term comic to invest in? Probably so. There's still about three years to watch this heat up and then dish off. If you got a high grade copy in your collection, you may want to consider getting it graded by CBCS or CGC.

    1. $1000? I don't think that'll happen for #361, even for CGC 9.8s. Do you think it will?

    2. Well, at least, not in the next few years.

    3. it depends how popular he gets off the movie.
He was really popular back in the 90's even got a video game off that popular maximum Carnage event.

Look how popular Loki got after the Avengers film.
I imagine he gets that popular his key issues will be in huge demand and speculators will price their comics higher, and the sheeple will bid it all the way into the $800 range probably even the $1000 mark. im just glad i already got my copy if that craziness should happen lol

  3. I know it's going to hit at least the 500-600 mark in the next year or two and I'm buying three copies of it in 9.8 condition to be prepared :) and I also on the verge of buying a jla #1 1.5-2.0 condition. My other comics have finally been sent to cgc so I'll give them a call to see if they got it!

    2. Thanks I've haven't recieved the tos 39 and jla #1 yet but I'll now have a .5 and 1.5-2.0 condition and I'll have 3 copies of asm 361 in 9.8 condition. Yeah I am stocking up lol and since you helped me so much I want to give you a bit of advice the jla #1 has two movies going for it batman vs superman and justice league of america also I have a gut feeling that asm 361 will skyrocket :)

    3. Yep, well aware of that already. Demand for Justice League of America #1 will extend because of those two movies, and I'm pretty sure they'll do a sequel to Justice League. Even if the first sucks, it'll gross a lot just on curiosity alone. We shall see with ASM #361, I have a feeling it will skyrocket also and hope it does, but keep in mind, it's not exactly a rare comic and there are a lot of high grade copies floating around out there.
