Deadpool Movie Finally Confirmed!

Not very long ago, the Deadpool test footage from a few years ago was leaked and went viral mad. Fans were ooing and ahhing over it, blitzing it everywhere on the internet they could.

Looks like this craze finally paid off. 20th Century Fox has gained new re-interest in the project and just green lit the Deadpool movie. It even has a release date and has been slotted in for February 2016.

That date suggests Fox just might not consider the Deadpool project a big budget summer blockbuster like the X-Men franchise. Call it more of a test run for the character, who did not bode well with fans and movie-goers with his first onscreen appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Fortunately, this Deadpool movie has been said by many sources, including Ryan Reynolds, that it will in no way be connected to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine flick. Good news.

However, if you liked the test footage, it seems that the movie will be using the script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, whom are the same dudes responsible for the test footage and for writing Zombieland. Since their script will be used, it also looks like the Deadpool movie will be rated R, which fans have been wanting and demanding that a Deadpool movie should be.

So it won't be a family movie or PG-13, and most seem happy about it. On the other hand, an R rating doesn't mean the movie will be good. Punisher War Zone was rated R as well, but it failed with comic fans and the general populace.

Tim Miller will helm the project, but no word has confirmed if Ryan Reynolds will once again play Wade Wilson, the Merc with a Mouth. So far it's just assumed he's in.

The film will come out before X-Men: Apocalypse, and it's been rumored that Deadpool will make an appearance in the highly anticipated follow up to X-Men Days of Future Past also.  The Deadpool movie will slash his way into theaters before everyone's favorite mutant bezerker Wolverine too.

It does seem that Fox has taken liberties with their new found re-interest in the character. The studio moved Josh Trank's Fantastic Four from June 2015 into August 2015. No biggie, since many fans are anticipating that the previous Fantastic Four movies will be better than the reboot, and for most fans, that's their way of saying the new one will be rubbish.

However, Assassin's Creed fans just may be cursing Deadpool right now. It seems that Fox's planned Assassin’s Creed movie was taken off the schedule completely for 2015 and has been moved to 2016.

Ryan Reynolds recently commented on the test footage leak and told the Niagara Falls Review, "The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually. And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."

All I can say is that this is truly a surprise break for those involved with the Deadpool movie. The project was in limbo hell for quite a while and even the creator of the character, Rob Liefeld, had his doubts that the movie would ever come to fruition.

Thanks to all those who went mad crazy over the test footage and making this movie happen and my first appearance of Deadpool comic go up!

  1. Greetings from Berlin!
Looks like it's finally happening, I'm looking forward to see this movie! Although I own only a 9.0 copy the value should definitely go up!
For a couple of days I'm trying to find some details on the mighty internet and because I know that you got a lot of knowledge I would be very happy to get some help:
At newkadia's website it is mentioned that there is a reprint of Strange tales #110 which exist with the same cover. Do you know if there are remarkable signs that defines copy as a reprint? Can't find any details on the web-so do you have any clues?
Thanks and keep up your fantastic work, always find it very helpful to read news from your blog! Regards, Sven

    1. I really don't know of any other reprints for Strange Tales #110 other than the one that came with the Doctor Strange Marvel Legends Action Figure or the Millennium edition, but both of those covers are different than the actual Strange Tales #110.

If there is one out there that has the exact same cover reprinted recently, there may be some kind of reprint notice inside the book or publishing date. NewKadia may have been lazy and just used the same cover.

  2. Thank you for that information, I also know only about the editions you´ve mentioned. I was just curious about that fact that Newkadia is mentioning a reprint (with the same cover) on their website...

Are you on the hunt for another great snag? Did you already find a high grade copy of Fantastic Four #52?

Always great to read your articles, thanks again for your great work!!! Greetings from Berlin/Germany, Sven

    1. Hey Sven, long time time. How you been across the pond? I'm catching a breather, but yes I did snag a few comics recently that I'll be sharing soon in the vault! What about you? Any great snags yourself?

Yeah, I'm sure if there was a reprint with the exact same cover for Strange Tales #110, there'd be some information about it online or a few people talking about it on a forum.

  3. Hey TCM, I´m looking forward to see your last snags, I´m sure they are worth the effort!!!
As for me, I´recently bought a Doctor Strange#1 (1974) which quite cost me some dough - but I really love this cover, so I had to get it! Also I was able to get a raw copy of Demon #1 which should be VF+ or so... I followed some of your advices and also bought a CGC 9.8 Batman The Killing Joke which I got from ebay during an auction for a hundred bucks (including shipping to Germany). Also wanted to buy a copy of Strange Tales #110, but even the lower grades seems out of my financial range this time-wonder if this will be changing in the future-I guess not...
Hopefully my purchased items will rise in the future, I keep looking for some snags from your investments lists. Always find that kind of your informations helpful-thanks and keep up with this outstanding work!

    - Sven -

    1. Nice snags, Sven. You may have missed out on Strange Tales 110, but that's okay. No one can get em all unless you have mad, mad money. There are other great one's to get also.

  4. By the way: Got a newsletter from a comic store and it says, that everybody is on the hunt now for X-Force #2, 'cause it's the 2nd appeareance of Deadpool...since the plans for a movie are revealed, collector's prices are you think that's a good investment??? Regards, Sven

    1. Yep, that 2nd appearance is heating up nicely. If you're going to dump money on that, get in on it as early as possible. It's not an investment I'd pay $200 for.

    2. I mean to say it's an investment I would NOT pay $200 for.

  5. Yeah,You're right, I wouldn't invest THAT amount on this item!!! As most of my items are supposed to be a long-term investment, I prefer to spend $200 better on a solid silber age book... Thanks for your time and answers!!! -Sven-

    1. No problem, Sven, thanks for reading and commenting, and I agree on the Silver Age part.
