Comics to Invest In 2014 Part 5

You're looking to invest in comics in, but not sure which ones to have gotten or to still get in 2014?

Welcome to Part 5 of this comics to invest in 2014 list. Here are some of the ones you may have missed out on, some that are still great to pick up even though the year is coming to an end, and some new ones to consider because some news just farted out recently!

If you stumbled upon this post and missed the previous part, just click this Part 4 link to go back, but if you're all good to go, let's get Part 5 over and done!

Journey Into Mystery #114

Crusher Creel, also known as the Absorbing Man, was recently leaked as being a villain in the upcoming season of Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. about a month ago. High grades aren't easy to find, but the VF range for this key has gone up. Unslabbed copies also seen a boost in sales.

I'm not even sure word has spread about him making his onscreen debut because hardly anyone on eBay is noting it in the title. One to be on the hunt for sure before Absorbing Man shows up in the episode and then everyone catches on and quite fast. Or, one to be selling after Creel makes his first episode appearance if you already have a copy.

eBay - Still not an easy find. A few unslabbed copies but only one 3.5 low VG CGC slab at the moment.

ComicLink - Two copies here. One is a CGC VG/FN 5.0 and the other a raw 3.0 GD/VG.

Amazing Spider-Man #361

Oh yes, Carnage and his first appearance has seen quite a bit of demand recently. This became even more so when Sony announced the movie's name would be changed to Venom Carnage, confirming that Carnage would be the villain for this spin off movie.

Amazing Spider-Man #361 is definitely one to get in 2014 and most CGC 9.8s are already past the $200 mark. You can get them under it if you really hunt them down. This is first appearance is heating up indeed!

eBay - No problem finding slabbed or unslabbed copies here at the moment. Still quite a few 9.8 options and 9.6s. I wonder when copies of this key will dry up on the mighty eBay.

mycomicshop - Jeezus, no shortage of copies here and quite a lot of 9.8s. Two 9.8s are still under $200 bucks here and I doubt they'll last long. Only one 9.6 here so far. Quite a few unslabbed copies and the highest are 9.2 low NMs.

ComicLink - Only one CGC 9.8 copy here and it's a Signature Series signed by Stan Lee.

Amazing Spider-Man #15

I'm a Kraven fan. Actually the whole On the Hunt section was inspired by this character, case you didn't notice his pic above the On the Hunt page. However, this comic is still being over-looked even though his logo was teased in the pics for the Amazing Spider-Man #2 download dealie.

Kraven is part of the Sinister Six movie, and homeboy is an original member. Actually, this issue isn't an easy find online at the moment, but it is a definite key issue to invest in for 2014. It may be well one for 2015 as well. After all, it is an early Silver Age Spider-Man key and the first appearance of Kraven the Hunter, so it just may be one for any year.

Do I recommend this one? Yep! Any year is a good year to invest in an early ASM key.

eBay - Surprisingly quite a few raw copies on eBay at the moment, but CGCs are pretty limited. Highest copy located is a 7.5 low VF.

ComicConnect - One CGC 8.0 VF but it's a restored copy. Other copies are raw and highest is 9.0 VF/NM.

ComicLink - One whopping CGC 9.6 NM+ for this issue here as well! Two 9.0 VF/NM CGC copies also. Last option is a GD+ raw copy.

Tomb of Dracula #10

If you're looking to invest in comics and are stumped at one to get this late in 2014, this is one to consider for sure. Only a matter of time before a movie reboot for Blade is in the works. David S. Goyer says it's a certainty, and I wouldn't doubt it since the original trilogy was highly successful. Actually, it was Blade who started off the Marvel cinematic universe on the big screen during the 90s and produced the first Marvel based movie that was taken seriously and loved by fans.

Tomb of Dracula #10 and the first appearance of Blade the Vampire Hunter is a key issue comic to invest in for 2014. Okay, scratch that, it's a comic to get before the reboot happens and the earlier the better for this one.

eBay - A lot more unslabbed copies than I expected here. Quite a few CGC options to choose from. A 9.6 NM+ is present as well as some 9.2s, one in particular is reasonably priced with a Best Offer.

mycomicshop - Three copies but only one CGC present so far. It's an 8.5 VF+. The two other copies are raw and highest is a FN.

Amazing Spider-Man #13

Mysteri-yo! The release of Amazing Spider-Man #2 skimped out on the end credits but had some bullshit deal to download a lame song and see some teaser pics that I did share on here. Those teaser pics included a dagger with Kraven's logo on it and some strange mask with mist and shit.

Well, now it's confirmed that Mysterio is part of the Sinister Six, and rightly so! Mysterio is an original member of the Sinister Six and even though this Spider-Man key issue is already valuable, we can expect an even larger push in demand and value as the Sinister Six movie draws nearer to release.

Actually, it does have a confirmed release date of November 11th, 2016. A comic to invest in? You betcha!

eBay - Only a smattering of unslabbed copies available, as well as CGC copies. Two 7.5 low VFs are the top slabbed grades so far on the mighty eBay.

ComicConnect - Four CGC copies here. One is going up for auction and it's a 6.5 FN+. There are also three available to snag immediately. Highest is a VF+ 8.0 slab. 2nd option is a 6.0 FN.

ComicLink - Whopping CGC 9.6 NM+ copy here. Two more CGC options with one mid-grade and one a VG copy. A raw 7.5 low VF copy also here at the moment.

Daredevil #176

It's been recently reported that the Netflix Daredevil TV series has cast Scott Glenn in the role of Stick. Who? Stick, man! The guy that trained Matt Murdock into becoming the badass that he is. He also had another famous student as well, and that's Elektra Natchios.

Of course, Stick was created by the legendary comic artist and writer and Occupy Wallstreet hater, Frank Miller. The casting of Scott Glenn as Stick is fresh news, so this bad boy hasn't really caught on just yet. Daredevil #176 is part of the Elektra Saga storyline. However, when it comes to the Modern Age of Daredevil stories, none is more influential than Frank Miller on his run for the title. May be one to consider, but I do have to admit that is one of his more ugly covers, but this one is already heating up somewhat.

eBay - Not exactly scarce for raw copies here at the moment. CGCs are non-existent at the moment though.

mycomicshop - Only raw copies here and they're all in stock so no buyer's premium charge. Highest is a FN/VF copy so far.

ComicConnect - Two CGC copies located here. One is a CGC 9.6 NM+ and the other a 9.2 low NM.

ComicLink - Two CGC copies with one being a 9.6 NM+ and a 9.4 NM, both are way under the $100 mark for now.

We are winding down to the last few parts but there are still more to come. 2014 was a busy year after all and it still ain't over yet. Lots of news hit this year and this recent and ridiculous blitzing of new comic book based TV series as well.

So, Part 6 to this comics to invest in 2014 is ready and published. All you gotta do to continue is click the PART 6 link below. If you missed Part 4, just click that PREVIOUS link to go back and read up on that.

  3. Tomb of Dracula #10 is a great pick. its $500 cheaper than asm 129 . I ave just got a 9.2 for around $400. Is there any chance you could do a blade key list if you haven't already.

Is there any other undervalued sleepers you would suggest. I bought a raw copy of ff 44 that i need to get graded.
