Comics to Invest In 2014 Part 3

Were steaming on forward with this bad boy and this is Part 3 to the comics to invest in 2014 list. Just to be clear, much of comics here have already been featured or recommended on here and this list is very much like a review. However, there are some that are still comics to snag this year and I've put a few new ones never mentioned or seen on Total Comic Mayhem before with each part.

If you missed Part 2, just click the link to go on back. If you're ready to proceed, enjoy!

Tales of the New Teen Titans #44

This book again? Yes, this book again, because it's only a matter of time before the first appearance of Nightwing catches on. With the news of TNT developing a Teen Titans TV Series, this book is heating up in demand, especially for CGC 9.8 graded copies.

So this is one of the early Copper Age comics to invest in 2014 before it blows up. The president of CW has also said that there are plans for the Titans television series to cross over with Arrow and the Flash as well. It's only a matter of time for Tales of the New Teen Titans #44.

eBay - Pretty limited selection for unslabbed copies, but there seems to be quite a bit of CGC options. CGC 9.8s are present, but most of them are overpriced in my opinion.

ComicLink - Two CGC 9.8 copies are the only options here. One is priced extremely reasonable and probably the cheapest I've seen so far. Other option is a bit overpriced.

DC Comics Presents #26

Repeating myself like nobody's business, and I'm starting to type like a broken record. However, this is a book to get in 2014 and it's still a key issue to get. There's still a lot of growth potential for CGC 9.8s and this book may get a double whammy in terms of demand.

As you know and I know, Cyborg will be in Dawn of Justice, and the Justice League, but it also seems his Teen Titans team mates may also get the spotlight with the Titans TV series. This will make the first appearance of the new Teen Titans in DC Comics Presents #26 an extremely hot book, and it will most likely sustain in demand also. 9.8s are dropping near the $300 mark currently.

eBay - Quite a few unslabbed copies and CGC copies for this key here on the mighty eBay. Two CGC 9.8s are present but are overpriced. Best to hit up an auction when one pops up again.

Sunfire & the Big Hero 6 #1

A surprise book that's gotten a lot of heat due to a certain Disney animated movie coming out based on the Marvel Comics Big Hero 6 book. This is definitely geared to capture the kiddies and a whole new generation.

Not surprisingly, Sunfire won't be in the animated movie, and you may have already seen trailers for it. Disney is giving a big push for this movie, and the first appearance of Big Hero 6 is in this comic Sunfire & the Big Hero 6 #1. Other sites have Alpha Flight #17 volume 2 as the first appearance, but they be wrong. This comic came out before Alpha Flight #17.

CGC 9.8 copies have now moved up past the $200 mark for this issue. Big Hero 6 is coming out November 7th of this year. May have been best to get this one earlier, but it's still worth watching out for. Not sure if this comic will continue to grow, but if you have a copy, probably best to break it out and sell, sell, sell! September, 1998 is when this comic was published.

eBay - Pretty limited selection for this comic at the moment. Unslabbed copies are there but not many. Four CGC copies, all are 9.8s with overbloated prices already. There is a CGC comic lot of 9.6s for both Sunfire & Big Hero #6 and Alpha Flight #17 volume 2.

mycomicshop - Two CGC 9.8s here and a bit pricey. Quite a few unslabbed copies with the highest being a 9.2 low NM.

Marvel Team Up #95

This bad boy shot up pretty nicely since it was announced that Adrianne Palicki was cast in the role of Bobbi Morse, a.k.a. Mockingbird, for the Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. TV series. Last CGC 9.8 copy dropped at $424.15.

There aren't many CGC 9.8 copies on the market yet, so it's a bit hard to gauge what they should be going for. I'm sure more auctions will pop up sooner or later. This key issue has gotten a nice push in demand in 2014. Will have to see just how much more it heats up.

eBay - No problem finding unslabbed copies for this key on eBay. High grade raw copies is a different story though. No CGC, and the three that were there were already snagged by some smart comic investors.

mycomicshop - Just a bunch of unslabbed copies here and the highest are two VFs. All are in stock and on consignment, but if you're looking for raw copies, probably get a better deal on eBay.

ComicConnect - One CGC 9.6 NM+ copy and it's going up for auction in November. It's the only copy there so far.

The New Mutants #98

Lo and behold. This is the 3rd non-variant, non-Signature Series Copper Age Comic to ever break the $1000 mark. Yep, it's CGC 9.8s of this book and can you guess what the other two are? Well, the first is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1, which is way over a thousand for CGC 9.8 now. The second is ASM #300.

Right now, since a Deadpool movie has been confirmed and there is even talks of Deadpool and Sabretooth as the main villains in the Wolverine 3, two New Mutants #98  9.8 copies have been dropping over the $1000 mark recently, but the marjority are dropping near or over the $700 mark. Only a matter of time before New Mutants #98 and the first appearance of Deadpool becomes a $1000 book in CGC 9.8.

eBay - Unslabbed copies are not cheap either for this comic now. Quite a lot of CGCs in all sorts of grades. Plenty of 9.8s and they're commanding some ridiculous prices. There's a few up for auction but most are already bid up past the $700 mark.

mycomicshop - Five CGC copies and three of them are 9.8s. A NM 9.4 and a 9.0 VF/NM round out the last of the slabbed options here. Two raw copies and one is up for auction.

ComicConnect - Only one CGC copy and it's a 9.8. Asking price is $1000. Better options on eBay.

ComicLink - Three copies and the highest is a 9.8 but only one at that grade. 2nd is a 9.6 and the lowest options here is a CGC 8.5 VF+.

Lucifer #1

In the last post, you read about the first appearance of Lucifer Morningstar and that issue it's in, now it's time for the actual series the new TV series based on this character is based on. The news is still fresh, and this comic is slowly starting to simmer.

CGC copies are pretty much non-existent, so if you have a high grade copy, might be time to think of submitting it. However, unslabbed copies are still highly affordable for this one. I'm thinking CGC 9.6s are too, but 9.8s for this Modern Age comic is still recommended.

You just might find Lucifer #1 in a back issue or dollar bin, but whether they'll be high grade enough to worth anything is a different story. June, 2000 was when this comic was published, and it's surprisingly not an easy find online.

eBay - A few unslabbed copies and there seems to be plenty. Only one CGC so far though, and it's only a 9.6 NM+. This one is seeing demand.

Plenty left more to go with this comics to invest in 2014. Two newbies and one has already caught fire and the other one - Lucifer #1 - is well on it's way. Plenty of comics I've already recommended but they are the comics to get in as soon as possible. Some are still salvageable in grades lower than 9.8. Some aren't.

Alrighty, Part 4 is finished and ready for viewing. All you gotta do to continue is click that PART 4 blue link below. If you missed Part 2, just click the PREVIOUS link to head on back.
