Apocalypse Key Comic Books

Due to a request, I'm gonna do my best to tackle a Apocalypse key comic books list. Some of the key issues in this list have already been on or recommended on other lists.

However, there will mostly be Copper Age sleepers presented here, not that many known issues, or maybe just some that aren't all that wanted. Still, they'll be key issues pertaining to the character of Apocalypse.

 X-FACTOR #5
1st cameo appearance of Apocalypse

This issue should be familiar by now, and it is officially known currently as the first cameo appearance of Apocalypse. I recommended this a while back in a High Grade Alert. Because of the announcement of X-Men Apocalypse being the follow up movie to Days of Future Past, this comic has seen a nice bump in demand and value. This comic is still going strong so far.

eBay - No shortage of copies for this key issue on the mighty eBay at the time of this writing. Plenty of unslabbers to choose from. Quite a few CGC copies also. CGC 9.8s are present, quite a few of them in fact.

mycomicshop - Jeez, a boat load of copies here. Definitely no hard find for this issue at mycomicshop. At least concerning unslabbed copies. Highest raw is a 9.4 NM. Only one CGC copy though, and it is a 9.8. There are even some raw copies in stock.

ComicLink - Two copies found at ComicLink. One is a CGC 9.8 and the other a CGC 9.6 NM+ Signature Series signed by Stan Lee.

X-FACTOR #6
First full appearance of Apocalypse

X-Factor #6 sees the first full appearance of Apocalypse, and this comic has definitely took a huge bump in value. For a comic that was pretty much a dollar bin find before the big movie announcement, this is definitely no longer the case for most cases.

CGC 9.8s are nearing the $300 mark currently. CGC 9.6s are dropping near or at the $150 mark. Out of all the Apocalypse key comics, this one is definitely the most sought out on the market now.

eBay - A lot of options to choose from for both unslabbed and slabbed copies concerning the first full appearance of Apocalypse on the mighty eBay. Quite a few CGC 9.8s available as well as CGC 9.6 NM+s.

mycomicshop - No shortage of copies for this first appearance of Apocalypse at mycomicshop either, at least for now. Definitely more CGC options, and the highest so far are two 9.8 copies. There are four CGC 9.6s with one of them being a Signature Series. All are on consignments except for one low grade copy that's in stock.

ComicLink - No surprise that there are quite a few copies of this issue found here. All are CGC and the highest is a CGC 9.8. There are two 9.8 copies currently. Only 9.6 is a Signature Series, but there are 9.4s as well as a 9.2 copy also.

ComicConnect - Three CGC copies available with the top grades being a 9.8 and 9.6. There is a 9.4 Signature Series signed by Stan Lee.

X-FACTOR #10
2nd appearance of Apocalypse?
Recruits Plague to become Pestilence

Alright, the question mark is because I'm not exactly sure if this is the 2nd appearance of Apocalypse or considered just a simple Apocalypse cameo or what. The industry is still quite confusing on what they're considering a cameo, minor appearance, brief appearance and full appearance. So since there's really no information out there about Apocalypse's 2nd, 3rd or 4rth appearance, I'm going to assume X-Factor #10 is it since it's the next appearance of the character after his first full appearance.

Other than that, this issues sees Apocalypse recruit Plague to be one of his four Horsemen. Plague will later become Pestilence.

eBay - Quite a few unslabbed options and some of them are in comic lots. Only one CGC 9.6 and it's under the $50 mark.

mycomicshop - Only unslabbed copies here at the moment with a VF being the highest. They all are in stock though, and there's only three.

ComicLink - CGC 9.8 copy for sale at the time of this writing. Way below the $100 mark but above the $50 mark.

ComicConnect - CGC 9.8 copy here and surprised to find one. Only one copy at the moment.

X-FACTOR #11
3rd appearance of Apocalypse?
Recruits Abraham Kieros to become War
First appearance of Abraham Kieros

Here we are with the 3rd appearance of Apocalypse maybe in X-Factor #11? Once again, not entirely sure if this issue could be regarded as a cameo, brief, or minor appearance of the character as well.
However, this issue does see the first appearance of Abraham Kieros, and Apocalypse also recruits him in this issue. Abraham Kieros would later become War in the Four Horsemen of
Apocalypse.

eBay - Only a few unslabbed copies present so far. No CGC copies as expected just yet.

mycomicshop - Two unslabbed copies in stock with the highest a VF and lowest a FN.

X-FACTOR #12
4rth appearance of Apocalypse?
First appearance of Autumn Rolfson
Recruits Autumn Rolfson to become Famine

Apocalypse recruits his third Horsemen in this issue, and she is Autumn Rolfson. Rolfson would later become Famine a few issue later.

This issue may also be the 4rth appearance of Apocalypse. If it isn't and you know for sure, let us all know by adding a comment in the comment box.

eBay - No CGC copies but so far there's quite a bit of unslabbers to choose from. High grade unslabbed copies is a different story.

mycomicshop - Only two copies in stock at the moment. Highest is a VF and lowest a FN.

X-FACTOR #15
First appearance of Horsemen of Apocalypse
Apparent death of Angel

The Horsemen of Apocalypse makes their first appearance and in costume, minus the character of Death who would later become Archangel. Speaking of Death, though, this issue sees the apparent death of Angel or Warren Worthington III.

After an injury, Angels wings are surgically removed to save his life. He then escapes from the hospital and takes off in his private aircraft. Warren, who is upset about losing his wings and blaming himself for all that has gone wrong with X-Factor, hits the self destruct button while his team mates watch the aircraft explode with him aboard.

Of course, we would later learn that he is indeed alive, but this story sets up for his first eventual appearance as Death or Archangel. It's also been reported that the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse is in the script for X-Men Apocalypse.

eBay - Decent selection of unslabbed copies for now. Only one CGC copy at the moment and it's a 9.6 NM+.

mycomicshop - One FN+ on consignment and a good copy in stock at the time of this writing. No CGC yet.

Only a few more Apocalypse key issues to go, and there is a Part 2 to this list. To be honest, there are only a few Apocalypse key comic books worth mentioning, so this key issues series will be short and sweet. Click the READ PART 2 link to continue.
