Captain Marvel Key Comic Issues Part 4

Welcome to the 4rth and final part to this Captain Marvel key comic issues list. Yes, we are wrapping it up in this part and there aren't that many left worth noting to be honest, so this will be a short and sweet one unfortunately. I've included no Moderns or Copper Age in this key issues list but do reference one at the very end of this post.

You can click this Part 3 link if you missed it. If not, let's finish up this cosmic goodness, yeah?

MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVEL #1
  • Death of Captain Marvel
  • 2nd Marvel graphic novel ever
This comic...I mean graphic novel...has become a fan-favorite for those who love the cosmic side of Marvel Comics. Well, and fans of Jim Starlin also. Yep, we see the death of Captain Marvel in this graphic novel.

Pretty sought out and definitely one to hunt down. Prices for raw copies are still pretty affordable. This was published in April, 1982.

eBay - We got some unslabbed copies for this graphic novel. Only one CGC 9.4 copy spotted so far on the mighty eBay.

ComicLink - Bringing on the high grade CGC goodness, there are two CGC 9.8 copies of this key issue available at ComicLink. One is a second printing though, the cheaper one.

ComicConnect - Two unslabbed copies but one is a 9.4 NM. Other one is a VF+ copy.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #16
  • First appearance of Monica Rambeau
Monica Rambeau is the 2nd person to take up the mantle of Captain Marvel, and she is the one I grew up with while collecting as a lad. I remember her quite often in the Avengers comics I use to read and always thought her costume was pretty cool. I've yet to see this character cosplayed, and I'd probably geek out if I did see someone dress up as her in her 80s costume.

Monica Rambeau was created by Rogern Stern and John Romita Jr., and this comic was published in 1982.

eBay - No problem finding unslabbed copies on eBay. Some are high grade also. On the CGC front, there are two. One's a Signature Series signed by John Romita Jr., and it's a 9.2 low NM. The other is a regular Universal graded 9.4 NM.

mycomicshop - Very Fine copy is the top one in stock at mycomicshop. All three copies are raw and no CGC yet. Extremely affordable snag.

NewKadia - Three high grade copies. Highest is a low NM and the other two are in the VF range. An affordable late Bronze Age key issue.

BONUS KEY ISSUE

FANTASTIC FOUR #65
  • First appearance of Ronan The Accuser
  • First appearance of Supreme Intelligence
This comic is already sought out because Ronan The Accuser is in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but as an extra bonus, I thought that it would be useful to inform that Fantastic Four #65 is also the first appearance of the Supreme Intelligence, whom is connected to the Captain Marvel mythos, as well as Ms. Marvel.

So there's more to this Silver Age key issue than just the first appearance of Ronan the Accuser, whom is also greatly tied to Captain Marvel also. Do I recommend this? Hmmm...first Ronan the Accuser, first Supreme Intelligence, early Fantastic Four Silver Age key issue? Absolutely!

eBay - A few CGC options for this issue. The highest is a 9.6 NM+, and there are a few mid-grade copies in the 7.0 FN/VF range at the moment. Plenty of unslabbed copies to choose from as well.

mycomicshop - Only unslabbed copies on consignment at the moment. No CGC yet, and the highest raw copy available at the moment is a 6.5 FN+. Other two options are low grade.

ComicLink - Two CGC copies here and one is a high grade 9.0 VF/NM that's already pretty up there in price but still under a grand. The other is a Signature Series signed by Stan Lee and is graded a 6.0 FN.

There would certainly be other volumes for Captain Marvel as well as limited series and such, but I'm stopping here with this Captain Marvel key comic issues list. Ms. Marvel would take up the mantle as Captain Marvel in the 1st issue to the 7th volume of the Captain Marvel titled series just in case some of you were wondering and are meddling with Modern Age comics.

Some pretty good key issues in this key issue series and some that are still quite affordable. If Marvel is planning on expanding their cosmic universe in the movies, which is seems like they are with the Inhumans movie, more Kree characters in the MCU have a more than good chance of popping up in future films. Some just may be on this Captain Marvel key comics list.

If you missed the beginning to this series, just click this PART 1 link in order to go to the start. Likewise, if you missed Part 3, just click the PREVIOUS link below to head on back. You can also click the link next to it to see the short and sweet Marvel Super-Heroes volume 1 keys list also.

Thanks for reading and happy hunting!
