Mockingbird Teased To Join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In Season 2!

Fresh from the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic Con, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show dropped some exciting news about Season 2 for us comic book fans. One of the names dropped was Bobbi Morse, and comic fans know that this Bobbi Morse just may well be Barbara Morse, also known as Mockingbird!

During a sneak peak video at SDCC, the name of Bobbi Morse was teased in the Season 2 teaser, and her arrival to the show just may be in the works.

Mockingbird is a former Avenger and was even the wife of Clint Barton, a.k.a Hawkeye. Not surprising that her name was dropped or that she may be making an appearance in Season 2 of the Marvel television show if you know some of the back ground for the character.

Initially created by Gerry Conway and Barry Windsor-Smith, Bobbi Morse was first seen in the pages of Bronze Age Ka-Zar stories. The character was later developed by such creative visionaries as Roy Thomas, Neal Adams, Mike Friedrich, Archie Goodwin, George Evans, Steven Grant, and Mark Gruenwald. The later development of her character was far from the character that first initially appeared in Astonishing Tales #6.

When Len Wein got hold of the character, she was morphed in a scientist named Dr. Barbara Morse who was working on a project called Project: Gladiator. This research project attempted to recreate the Super Soldier Serum given to create Captain America. It was also the same research that Ted Sails was previously working on that turned him into the Man-Thing.

Later the character of Bobbi was morphed into the Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. called Agent 19 until she finally appears as the costumed super-heroine the Huntress and later Mockingbird. In her career as a comic book character, there are quite a few different first appearances dealing with her.

As already pointed out, her first initial appearance is in Astonishing Tales #6, but was depicted as an unnamed brunette woman. In Tales to Astonish #8 she magically turns from a brunette into a blonde without explanation and is first given the name of Barbara. She is then known as Dr. Barbara Morse in Astonishing Tales #12 and connected to the Man-Thing and S.H.I.E.L.D.

No doubt her appearance in Season 2 of the show is an exciting addition to the cast. She may appear as the undercover, scientist agent or already be suited up to kick some butt.

I doubt she'll be wearing the costume she wore in the West Coast Avengers comics that I grew up reading. I personally like that look a lot, even if it may be too campy to be on the small or big screen. If she does suit up it may be her more updated look as shown in the picture to the left, which is a pretty hot look as well. That's to say if she is shown in costume at all. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that she will.

No word yet on who will play the lovely blonde super-heroine, but a casting confirmation for the character just may be around the corner. Looks like Season 2 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is about to kick out a whole lot of awesome!
