Iron Fist Key Comics Part Four

Ah, and we're getting close to the end of this key comics Iron Fist list. In Part 4, we'll see a lot more Iron Fist key issues that will deal with his famous team up with Luke Cage, also known as Powerman!

If you missed Part 3, you can click that blue link to go back. If not, let's not waste anymore time and get down business. You know what to do.

First appearance of Misty Knight (Retconned)

I decided to put this bad boy here even though this issue precedes even the first appearance of Iron Fist in Marvel Premiere #15. However, when this issue was first published in March, 1972, it depicted an unnamed and unknown female in the story.

It was later retconned that the female in this story was actually Misty Knight, and she confirms it in Marvel Team Up #64 after talking about the exact same events that transpired here in this issue. Damn retcons!

eBay - The #1 issue of Marvel Team Up appears to be a bit more scarce on the unslabbed front. There are a few CGC copies available, but no super high grade NM 9.6 - 9.8 copies as of yet.

mycomicshop - Only two raw copies here at the moment. Highest is a FN/VF 7.0.

ComicLink - A few copies here. Both unslabbed and raw copies. Highest CGC copy is a 9.4 NM.

First time Luke Cage and Iron Fist meet

This issue again, but it is a historic issue concerning both the characters of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. With the Netflix television show in the works, this should be a good bronze age key comic to hunt down if you haven't already.

This is the first time Luke Cage Powerman and Iron First meet and the first time Iron Fist appears in the title. The team of Chris Claremont and John Byrne would migrate to the pages of Powerman #48 to continue the Iron Fist saga. This comic was published December, 1977.

eBay - No CGC at the time of this writing. Even unslabbed copies are pretty scarce on here so far.

mycomicshop - Only one FN unslabbed copy located here.

Iron Fist joins Luke Cage
Title changed to Powerman and Iron Fist
First appearance of Harmony Young
Last John Byrne

A historic issue right here. This marks the first team up between Luke Cage and Iron Fist and the team up would continue until the series was cancelled. This key issue should have seen a bump in demand for high grade copies because of the planned Netflix television show, but not the case at least yet.

This issue has the first appearance of Harmony Young, a socialite and model who dated Luke Cage. She is often depicted as shallow and vain.

Title changes to Powerman and Iron Fist with this issue as well, and it was published April,1978. Will be one to watch out for, I think. The dynamic duo of Claremont and Byrne end with this issue. Claremont would carry on for a while with Mike Zeck before he too leaves the series.

eBay - Only one CGC 9.8 that's just newly listed. Only a few unslabbed copies as well.

mycomicshop - Five raw copies with the highest being a low VF. Second highest is a FN+ 6.5.

ComicLink - Only one copy here at the moment. It's a CGC 9.6 NM+.

ComicConnect - Beautiful CGC 9.8 copy for sale here. Also an unslabbed FN 6.0.

 First appearance of El Aguila

El Aguila becomes a supporting character for both Iron Fist and Powerman. He looks like a Zorro rip-off, and is actually inspired by him. His real name is Alejandro Montoya is a skilled swashbuckler and actually a mutant. His mutant ability allows him to produce electrostatic charges with the ability to discharge up to 100,000 volts through conductive metal.

eBay - One CGC 9.8 so far. Limited selection for raw copies as well for this issue.

mycomicshop - If you're more of an unslabbed comic collector, there's four here at the moment. Highest is a low VF and the second highest is a FN+.

2nd appearance of Sabretooth

Here we are with the 2nd appearance of Sabretooth. The character is still a noted villain of both Iron Fist and Luke Cage before making his home as one of the deadliest foes for the X-Men and Wolverine.

Still not that quite known, CGC 9.8s are still on the affordable side. Only a matter of time before this bronze age key issue takes traction as Sabretooth is a highly popular and fan-favorite villain within the Marvel Universe. Should be a good comic investment sought out in the near future and one of the best Iron Fist key comics.

eBay - Decent selection of unslabbed copies to consider. Six CGC copies available. Highest are 9.6s at the moment.

mycomicshop - CGC 9.6 copy here. Three other unslabbed copies available as well.

ComicLink - Two CGC 9.6s located here.

3rd appearance of Sabretooth

2nd appearances are becoming more sought out in the market, and 3rd appearances for some characters are starting to gain steam as well. This 3rd appearance of Sabretooth is still not one and pretty much a sleeper.

Not as well-known as some others, but Sabretooth is an extremely popular character. Before he moved onto causing mischief for the X-Men, he was an early foe of both Iron Fist and Luke Cage. You can still pick this up relatively cheap at high grades for now.

eBay - No problem concerning unslabbed copies. CGC is a bit more limited. Only located two copies at the time of this writing - A 9.2 Signature Series and a 9.6 regular Universal copy.

mycomicshop - Only one copy available at the moment. It's an unslabbed low FN copy.

ComicLink - Two CGC 9.6 NM+ copies located here.

ComicConnect - Three copies here in the meantime. One is a CGC graded copy at an attractive 9.6 NM+. Two other unslabbed copies for sale. Low NM 9.2 and a 8.0 VF.
