Green Arrow Key Comic Books Part 9

Welcome to Part 9 of this Green Arrow key comic books list. We are definitely in the Modern Age of comics, and there are quite a bit of sleepers we've covered in Part 8, and there will be quite a bit more in this part as well. Don't expect to find too many CGC copies for the keys in Part 9. The comics listed below will probably be good back issue bin hunts as well.

We're also wrapping it up with the Green Arrow key issues, and Part 9 will be the last. So, if you missed the previous post, visit this Part 8 link to go back. If not, enjoy Part 9!

Green Arrow #102 Volume 2
  • Conner Hawke new Green Arrow
This issue starts Conner Hawke's career as the new Green Arrow in the DCU. Some actually really liked Conner Hawke as Green Arrow and believe he was a lot more likeable than his father Oliver Queen.

Definite sleeper, not well-known, and not very sought after concerning this key issue. Total speculation with this one, but it is a key. This was published November, 1995.

eBay - Not a very wide selection so far for this issue. A few unslabbed copies but not many. No CGC yet, which isn't very surprising.

mycomicshop - More unslabbed copies. Highest is a VF.

Green Arrow #110 Volume 2
  • First appearance of Hatchet
  • 1st new Green Arrow and new Green Lantern team up
It's no surprise that Chuck Dixon would pay homage to the Dennis O' Neil and Neal Adams famous team up between Green Arrow and Green Lantern. Only this time he would do it with the new superheroes on the block.

Conner Hawke and Kyle Rayner would also strike up a close friendship, and this dynamic made sense since both characters had trouble living up to the legacies of their predecessors. This would be the first time the two team up in the series.

This issue also marks the first appearance of Hatchet, and the character became a recurring villain for both Green Arrow and Green Lantern. This Modern Age key issue was published July, 1996.

eBay - Same deal here at the time of this writing. A few raw copies to choose from but no CGC. This is a definite sleeper and still cheap.

mycomicshop - Three unslabbed options here. Highest is a NM with the second highest a VF.

Green Arrow #137 Volume 2
  • Last issue to Volume 2
And here it is, the last issue to the first on-going Green Arrow series. This issue is actually sought out and will cost some bucks to get. This comic was supposedly really under-ordered in terms of printing. I don't know how scarce it actually is, but some sources are claiming that this issue has a low print run. Does make sense since the series was cancelled due to poor sales.

eBay - Better selection on eBay for this key issue, but only slightly. There are CGC copies of this key. CGC 9.8 with a Best Offer option. Still quite below the $100 mark. There's also a VF+.

mycomicshop - Three unslabbed copies again. Highest is a NM followed by a VF and then a FN.

Green Arrow #1 Volume 3
  • First issue to on-going series
  • Return of Oliver Queen
Written by Kevin Smith, this issue sees the return of Oliver Queen as Green Arrow. It wasn't like comic fans were all that surprised. What is surprising is that Green Arrow gets another self-titled series, and that issue #1 to this series is actually a pretty sought out comic for a Modern Age DC Comics book.

It's definitely no light weight and on the rise since the Arrow television show. April, 2001 was when this comic was published.

eBay - A bit of unslabbed copies here and only one CGC copy at the moment. It is a 9.8 and can be snagged for under $100, for it does have a Best Offer option.

mycomicshop - Only one VF copy here at the time of this writing.

NewKadia - 4 copies in stock at NewKadia. Highest is a NM+. Second highest is a solid NM.

Green Arrow #27 Volume 3
  • First appearance of Constantine Drakon
This character already appeared in Arrow season 1 and died. However, in the comics, Constantine Drakon has been a Green Arrow nemesis for quite some time, so the first appearance of Constantine Drakon in Green Arrow volume 3 shouldn't be completely ruled out. This issue was published August, 2003.

eBay - No CGC yet, but no problem in finding unslabbed copies at the moment.

mycomicshop - Three unslabbed copies here at the time of this writing. There's a NM, a VF, and a FN.

NewKadia - 4 copies in stock as well at the time of this writing. Highest is a NM+ copy with the second being a solid NM. There's also a low NM and a VF+

Green Arrow #40 Volume 3
  • First appearance of Brick
The first appearance of Brick marks this key issue Green Arrow comic. Danny "Brick" Brickwell is Star City's underworld force to be reckoned with. He united all the street gangs in Star City under his leadership.

Brick has become a regular nemesis for Green Arrow, and even hired Deathstroke to blow up Oliver Queen's house. This issue was published September, 2004. It's still very much a sleeper.

eBay - Limited selection. No CGC as of yet but that's not surprising.

mycomicshop - Two unslabbed copies in stock. Highest is a NM. Second highest is a VF. No CGC at the moment.

NewKadia - Two copies in stock. Highest is a solid NM and lowest is a low NM.

Alright, that's it for this Green Arrow key comic books list. It was definitely challenging since Green Arrow was used as a back up feature for so long and many of his keys were spread out among various titles. It was challenging but fun, I do have to admit.

As you can see, many of the Green Arrow keys in the later parts to this key issue series start to lean a lot more towards speculating. Up to you. Just thought I'd throw out some Modern Age keys.

If you missed the entire series, just hit this Part 1 link to go to the beginning. You can also hit the PREVIOUS link below to read up on Part 8 if you skipped that.

Thanks for reading and hope this helps you in your hunt!
