The Walking Dead Key Issues Part 8

We are wrapping it up here with this last part to The Walking Dead key issues list. If you missed Part 7, be sure to click the link to check that out. Alright, lets get this done with for now.

The Walking Dead #109 Blank Sketch Variant
  • Intro Earl Sutton & Brianna
  • Blank sketch variant
Another limited edition blank sketch variant for issue #109. No easy task to find clean versions, and no info to how limited this variant is. Couldn't find any info on it.

eBay - A few clean CGC 9.8 copies for this blank sketch variant. It's already commanding around $100 bucks for CGC 9.8. Also located an unslabbed raw copy (clean) with a clean blank sketch of issue #115 in a comic lot for pretty cheap.

mycomicshop - One CGC 9.8 copy found here. This is a Signature Series signed with sketch by Sina Grace.

ComicConnect - There is a CGc 9.8 clean blank sketch variant here for sale. Under $100 bucks as well.

The Walking Dead #115
  • First appearance of Richard
  • First Stefano Gaudiano artwork on series
  • First Dave Stewart artwork on series
This issue is highly sought out key for various reasons. This is part one to the story line All Out War, in which has become a fan-favorite story arc. Also, Ezekiel's head of security, Richard, makes his first appearance in this issue.

Also first artwork by Stefano Gaudiano and Dave Stewart begins in this issue as well. This issue was the highest selling comic of 2013 with over 350,000 copies sold. Despite the important key issue status for this issue, don't expect this comic to be rare.

eBay - Not that many CGC copies for the original first printing of issue #115. Pretty surprising. Actually, not really. However, there are quite a lot of unslabbed copies to select from.

mycomicshop - Only one unslabbed NM copy for the first printing of issue #115 here

The Walking Dead #115 Blank Sketch Variant
  • First appearance of Richard
  • First Stefano Gaudiano artwork on series
  • First Dave Stewart artwork on series
These blank sketch variants are fan-favorites, with some of them, depending on artist who does a sketch the cover, are becoming quite valuable and collectible.

eBay - I really have no idea why someone would want a clean blank cover CGC graded, even if it is a 9.8. Whole point of the blank sketch cover variant is to get a sketch on the cover of whatever Walking Dead related drawing you want, preferably by an artist that did a variant cover or the main Walking Dead artist. However, there are a few CGC copies of this variant on eBay, and they are clean also. Not many though.

mycomicshop - Unslabbed blank variant copy here (clean). Advertised as NM.

The Walking Dead #115 Rare Midnight Release Sketch Variant
  • First appearance of Richard
  • First Stefano Gaudiano artwork on series
  • First Dave Stewart artwork on series
  • Only 1 per store
This is another highly sought out variant cover for issue #115 and was limited to only one copy per store that participated in the issues midnight release. There's an estimated 600 copies printed, and this variant is already getting up there in price.

eBay - Only two CGC copies on eBay so far. Both are 9.8s and this variant is already past the $200 mark. One of the 9.8s is up for auction. Just may be able to get that copy cheaper.

mycomicshop - There is a CGC 9.8 copy located here. You'll have to scroll to see it after clicking the mycomicshop link. They are asking for $250.

The Walking Dead #127
  • First appearance of Magna, Luke, Kelly, Connie, Yumiko, Annie, and Siddiq
  • First and death of Bennie
  • First mention of Alex Cooper and Anna
Released only about a week ago, this comic is already a key issue that fans are gunning for. It's the first issue post All Out War and sees the first appearances of a lot of new supporting characters led by Magna. Many of them are becoming new fan-favorites, and this is one of the newest key Walking Dead comics to consider snagging. Not sure about a long-term investment, but may be a great short-term one.

eBay - Already quite a few unslabbed copies up on eBay. No CGC which isn't surprising since this comic just came out. nn

The Walking Dead #127
Diamond Retailer Exclusive B&W Variant
  • First appearance of Magna, Luke, Kelly, Connie, Yumiko, Annie, and Siddiq
  • First and death of Bennie
  • First mention of Alex Cooper and Anna
This variant is already taking off in a big bad way, and are already being bid past the $200 mark. That's for auction and unslabbed copies too, so demand is pretty high for this variant. Not sure how long that will last or not.

eBay - I spotted two unslabbed copies up for auction with only about a day left.

Although, this is it for now, I do realize that since The Walking Dead is still an on-going series, that this key issue list will have to be updated with new key worthy issues that come out.

Anyways, I'm officially burnt out on key Walking Dead comics, and every and anything that has to do with this comic series. Regardless, I hope this entire series of the Walking Dead key issues list has helped you in tracking down some important keys and rare variants, as well as some minor ones also.

Thanks to Gabriel for initially sharing the TWD keys he found, which helped me get this thing started, as well as Tim for suggesting quite a few keys, which were used in this list as well.

If you missed the beginning to this series, be sure to hit up this Part 1 link to start at the beginning. You can also visit the PREVIOUS link below to see Part 7 in case you missed it.

As always, more comic goodness coming along shortly so feel free to check back soon! Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed.

  2. Saw it over Memorial day weekend. I thought it was pretty good. And without giving away any spoilers I liked the overall feel of the movie. SO many good superhero movies coming down the pipeline. Can't wait!

  3. Is there any additional key issues that have been released after 127? Some of the variants to 150 have been kinda hot.
