eBay - At the time of this writing, the cheapest option online is the Tales of the Teen Titans #44 CGC 9.8 in the eBay widget for $400.00. That could change so I elected to provide the blue eBay link that goes directly to eBay's search results for the comic so you can check out your options.

In case you have yet heard, there's quite a bit of rumors about Nightwing. The first is that Nightwing will be in the Superman vs. Batman movie in the works.

If the plot rumors are true that Batman will be older and the film is based loosely on the Dark Knight Returns limited series, we may already be sent to a world where the original Robin, Dick Grayson, has already severed ties with Batman and struck out on his own. Plot rumors have also suggested that Bruce Wayne will have retired the cowl for seven years and the events of the Dark Knight Rises are long in the past.

If this movie does end up like the plot rumors suggests, it will also be known that the Robin to take up the mantle after Dick Grayson just may be Jason Todd and already dead at the hands of the Joker. We may first see a Bruce Wayne riddled with guilt over Todd in the early parts of the film.

That's, of course, if the movie plot rumors are true. Even if not true, it's highly likely that Nightwing will make an appearance in an upcoming Batman solo film that will most likely spin-off from his appearance in the Man of Steel sequel.

In case you haven't noticed, DC Warner Bros, Sony and Fox are rushing to play catch up with Disney/Marvel after the studio proved successful at connecting a larger universe in their film world. The other studios are taking the cue and also expanding their cinematic worlds.

Nightwing is a more solid choice in appearing in the next Batman film than Robin. We've already seen Robin in a Batman film, and it was not that good. Even if they did change up the outfit to look a tad cooler.

Also, there are rumors about Nightwing appearing in the Arrow television series, and why not? A lot of DC characters have already shown up on that show.

So why this issue? It's the first appearance of Dick Grayson as Nightwing, toted as the first appearance of Nightwing for short.

Tales of the Teen Titans #44 is a copper age key issue that is starting to heat up. CGC 9.8s are past the $300 range, nearing the $400 mark. You can bet that when confirmation of his appearance in a comic book movie comes out, the first appearance of Nightwing will take off.

It makes sense that he will also. DC and Warner are planning to expand their comic universe in movies, and Batman will surely get a solo franchise. Not that complicated of math. However, right now they're just rumors, but comic fans are keeping a close eye on this potential investment comic.

  1. Ever think there are just too many of these books out there to justify these prices?

    1. I do think about concerning Copper Age keys, especially if newsstands and direct market editions are not taken into account. CBCS is changing that on their labels. Only a matter of time before CGC follows suit. Makes sense. After all, they acknowledge the so called Mark Jewelers ads as variants or different.
