Captain America 3 Movie News!

Alright guys, Captain America Winter Soldier was pretty awesome, but for those who read this blog for comic investing purposes, you're going to want to know this bit of news. It seems that the Cap movie franchise already have ideas for Captain America 3, which is expected to be released in 2016.

Screen writer Christopher Markus already dropped a pretty good hint in his interview with Den of Geek:

"We've definitely set out on a more realistic road in the Cap movies, you know. Even more grounded that in the other MCU movies. And so it kind of rules out Cap fighting the Dinosaur Man or something like that - I mean there's a couple we're playing with right now that we really want to take elements from. Which we'll not reveal - All I'm saying is psychotic 1950s Cap.

Now, if you've been reading this blog through and through, you'll know who is 1950s Cap. I've been talking about him here and there, and uncovered him and all the different Caps to take up the mantle in the Captain America Key Issues list I did not too long ago. If you missed it, click that blue link later to read up on it.

The character referred to as 1950s Cap, who is a bit nutty, is William Burnside, the 4rth person to take up the mantle of Captain America. Did you think only Steve Rodgers held the code name?

As I've written here before, 1950s Captain America is also Steve Rodgers II. Yes, he had surgery to make him look like the original Steve Rodgers and to even sound like the guy. He does go crazy as well in the comics. Wouldn't you if you found out you were a character created just to fill in continuity gaps? Talk about having an identity crisis.

Now, Christopher Markus did mention they are playing around with the idea, so it's nothing official just yet. However, for us investing in comics, this is called a lead when a bit of comic book movie news is dropped like that.

Time to dig into those Captain America key issues and start hunting down some William Burnside. I'd recommend starting from the beginning of the series to understand how William Burnside was retconned into the Cap mythos. Just click the blue link above to start from Part 1.

If you're looking for sleepers concerning the character of Burnside? You'll need to start at this link right here

The Captain America 3 movie is scheduled for release in 2016.

  1. Would you reccomend getting CA 162?

    I have 153- 155 already.

    1. Not really...just used the pic as a reference for a crazy cap.

    2. Actually I changed my mind on that call. Cap 162 is the first time Peggy Carter is identified as Sharon's sister. Though later retconned to be her aunt. With the new Agent Carter t.v. series in the works, this may be a key to gun for.

Glad they decided to expand on Peggy Carter's character. I love me some Hayley Atwell!
