 WHY THIS ISSUE?

With the recent news concerning Edgar Wright's anticipated Ant-Man film, it's a no brainer why this issue has just been tossed on the hot-burner. With Michael Douglas confirmed as Henry Pym, we all now know that Paul Rudd will be Scott Lang, and, therefore, the Ant-Man movie will focus on the 2nd Ant-Man, not the original. It also appears the Scott Lang will be the character to intertwine with the Avengers films also.

Despite the fact whether you may be disappointed in this move like I am, demand for Marvel Premiere #47 is definitely heating up. This is the first appearance of Scott Lang as Ant-Man, not to be confused with Scott Lang's first appearance in comics. This issue is where the character dons the Ant-Man costume and begins his career as the superhero.

As for the copy above, I do understand that there are a lot of comic fans who love the CGC Signature Series. There are  quite a few CGC 9.6 Signature Series copies floating around on the market, but not CGC 9.8 Signature Series copies for Marvel Premiere #47. Therefore, this copy gets the spotlight, because this is a late bronze age key issue and that means there should be plenty of high grade copies floating around.

As for who it's signed by, it's signed by the inker Bob Layton. Not a bad signature, but it would've been much more valuable if it were signed by the penciler, John Byrne, or Stan Lee. Nevertheless, if it were signed by either of those two, you can expect the price for this comic to be above a thousand.

Also, there's a "Best Offer" option available, so you have a good chance to whittle the price down. What price the seller will agree to, I have no clue, but it doesn't hurt to give it a go if you're on the hunt for this Marvel key issue comic and happen to love CGC Signature Series comics.

So, whether this particular comic is for you or not, just know that Marvel Premiere is getting a huge boost in demand right now. Oh, yes, and watch out for the Marvel Legends reprints. A CGC label will designate Reprint on it, but you may get all excited and mistake an unslabbed reprint for the 1st printing.

So for those of you who  are more adventurous and prefer to get unslabbed copies and take risks on eBay, the Marvel Legends reprint has "Not For Resale" in the box where the UPC code is. That box is also blacked out. The 1st printings have the UPC code.

Happy hunting and good luck!
