Will The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Be in Avengers 2?

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver

Oh, how we love the latest buzz going around about Marvel's most popular mutant brother and sister has been "confirmed" to assemble in 2015's Avengers 2. Actually, the gossip came from the lips of The Avengers director Joss Whedon himself.

At the L.A. premier of Iron Man 3, Whedon told Yahoo! that he had finished a first draft of The Avengers 2 script. He later also said:

"I've got these two characters [in the draft] -- my favorite characters in the comic book, a brother-sister act. They're in the movie, that's exciting."

This immediately sent a shockwave with fans, and they immediately assumed the "brother-sister act" would definitely be the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, who are well-known members of The Avengers team.

Furthermore, Entertainment Weekly has just revealed that a source confirmed to EW that the mutant twin offsprings of none other than Magneto will be included in The Avengers sequel.

President of Production at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, neither denied nor confirming the leak. "The draft could change six months from now," Feige said.

But how would this be possible. After all, doesn't Fox own the rights to the X-Men characters? Yes, they do, but they do not own the rights to the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

In the legal mumbly-jumbly world, Marvel and Disney can use the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in any movie they want as long as they do not mention that Magneto is their pops.

EW and other news sources just may be jumping the gun here. After all, Feige did mention that the script could change in the next several months. It would not be the first, and script changes are quite common in Hollywood.

However, news sources may not be also. The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are seasoned members of The Avengers. In fact, the Scarlet Witch is wife to The Vision.

It's pretty interesting either way. The Scarlet Witch's hex power, which allows her the ability to manipulate probability and reality with her hex power could be quite useful, but it just may be a bit complex as well. At least, more complex than the super speedster Quicksilver.

What do you think? You think that the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will suit up and assemble in Avengers 2?
