Morbius Joins The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Cast!

In recent news it seems that the Amazing Spider-Man sequel will introduce another character from the comics. It's already been confirmed that Mary Jane Watson and Harry Osbourne will be introduced into the Marc Webb rebooted Spidey sequel.

Now it seems the unlikely character of Dr. Michael Morbius played by Asim Ahmad has been added to the cast.

Back in December, Marvelous Escape tweeted,

"My amazing best friend and partner @asimaahmad is playing Morbius in TAS2 which may be called Spectacular Spiderman."

Morbius imageIn the comics, Dr. Michael Morbius was a Nobel Prize winning biochemist, who attempted to cure himself of a rare blood disease. Sounds a bit like Dr. Curt Conner's and his well-known Lizard problem to try and grow back limbs, does it not? Well, if you're not familiar with the character of Morbius, here's a freeze-dried back ground of the character.

Using experimental treatment involving vampire bats and electroshock therapy, Morbius's experiment goes terribly wrong. He develops symptoms of vampiric blood thirst as well as the powers of a vampire. Unlike vampires of legend, his symptoms are from scientific causes instead of supernatural which makes him living instead of the undead.

When and where did the character of Morbius first appear in the Marvel Comics. Click the link to find out the first appearance of Morbius.

Ace Show Biz reported that once fans started asking Ahmad if the rumors are true, he confirmed them by saying,

"Yep, not a big part mind you, but it's gonna be a blast." In another posting, he wrote, "I assure you it's not bs but it's not a huge thing like everyone is making it out to be. 2-3 mins, tops."

Okay, so Michael Morbius is making a cameo! The real question I'm wondering is if he'll be making a cameo within the movie or at the end credits?

Meaning, is his cameo setting Morbius up to be the main villain for Amazing Spider-Man 3? If his part is only for the end credits, I think we can all assume who will be the next villain for the third film.

However, if his cameo is within the movie itself, it could go either way. Remember, Dr. Curt Conners was in Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man 2 and 3, but never saw daylight as the Lizard until it the franchise was rebooted.

Will Dr. Michael Morbius just be in the back ground in Marc Webb's series like Dr. Curt Conners was in Raimi's series?
