Ant-Man Movie Confirmed! My Top Choices of Who Should Play Ant-Man!

So it seems that the long-awaited and long-talked-about Ant-Man movie based on the Marvel Comics has finally been confirmed by Disney & Marvel Studios! About time, right?

Marvel announced that the Ant-Man movie will get a November 6th release date in 2015 after the May release of Avengers 2 in the same year. Will he be making a short cameo in Avengers 2 and primed for a bigger role in Avengers 3? Nobody knows yet, but the speculations are already buzzing round the comic book community.

With the great news of an Ant-Man flick finally coming to light, many are already giving their top choices of who should play the famous and original team member, Henry Pym a.k.a Ant-Man. I've so far seen some really outrageous suggestions of certain actors who should play the role from Adrian Brody to Bradley Cooper.

All I have to say to those two choices is a huge a definite, NAY! I can see Thor chiming in with me as well. Here's who I think should play the scientist turned Avengers superhero.

SIMON BAKER
Simon Baker from the hit T.V. series The Mentalist is my top choice for the actor who should play Henry Pym. Just look at him at the pictures of the actual comic character and you can see he actually looks like the character.
Despite the fact Baker looks close to the character, he also looks believable that he could play a geeky biochemist that creates a size-altering formula. His role in The Mentalist T.V. series does have him solve various crimes with powerful observational and analytical skills. Perfect for the role of a scientist.

Bradley Cooper just doesn't seem like he could pull off a convincing geek scientist. Although the character of Henry Pym in the comic is arrogant and Bradley does pull off the arrogant roles quite well, he doesn't have that acting quality that could make him pass for a genius scientist. He looks more like a pretty boy jock. Sorry, Bradley.

As for Adrian Brody, sure, he looks like he can pull off the geeky scientist. Probably even more than Simon Baker, but he doesn't have the look and blonde locks would just look weird and unnatural on him.

Besides, there's a very smooth, charm that Simon Baker can get. He can be arrogant in a subtle and intelligent way, while Cooper and the roles he plays just comes off as arrogant in a brash, low brow way.

AARON ECKHART
Aaron Eckhart would be my second choice to fit into the role of Henry Pym. There's a few reasons for this.

Although he looks less like Henry Pym in the comic book than Simon Baker, he can also be convincing as a scientist genius that happened to be born with good looks.

I know, he's Harvey Dent a.k.a Two Face in Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight, but that's another reason why I can see him as Ant-Man. His role as Dent was intense, so he can play a passionate and intense scientist who stumbles upon an incredible formula to manipulate the size of an unusual set of subatomic particles within the human body.

Also, Eckhart has proven himself as an action hero in the 2011 movie Battle: Los Angeles. After all, if we're all hearing this correctly, it is speculated that Henry Pym will be an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Eckhart can pull off a military attitude.

These are my top two choices, and two actors that I think would be great as Henry Pym/Ant-Man. I doubt they'll be picked, and the role will probably go to someone who looks far from the actual comic character.

If Bradley Cooper and Adrian Brody are picked, I'm definitely going to slap my forehead on that call. Sure, I'll still go see the flick, but I just don't see those actors being able to pull off the qualities of the comic character I know and grew up with.

Thanos Confirmed For Both Guardians of The Galaxy & Avengers 2!

Is he or isn't he? Is Thanos or not? For the past few months people have been speculating whether Thanos was going to be the villain for Guardians of the Galaxy or Avengers 2 or both.

Well, some concrete evidence is in, and who was the one to spill the beans? None other than the cosmic king of comic books - Jim Starlin!

That's right, folks. The creator of Thanos leaked out the news at the Montreal Comic-Con.

It appears that Jim Starlin is not only the creator of Thanos, but also holds the rights to the Mad Titan. So, we can all safely know that when Starlin says there's a deal on the table for his character to not only appear in Guardians of the Galaxy but Avengers 2 as well, it's pretty much a lock!

It wasn't revealed how much the character would be a part of Guardians. He could just have an end credit role again like in the Avengers.

However, folks, our speculations have been answered and corrected. It's no longer an Avengers 2 rumor! Thanos will appear in both Guardians and Avengers 2, and that makes sense.

After all, he is closely tied with Drax the Destroyer and Adam Warlock. In fact, Adam Warlock and Thanos have shared quite a few adventures as both allies and foes in the Marvel Comics.

But fans of the character know Thanos mostly for the havoc he created with the beloved The Infinity Gauntlet comic series written by Jim Starlin and penciled by fan-favorite comic artist, Ron Lim. That series did have Earth's Mightiest Heroes play a huge role in thwarting Thanos's evil plan to "court Death" by ruling the universe.

Remember, the Infinity Gauntlet is still in Odin's Chamber with the rest of those cosmic goodies from the first Thor movie. Will Loki steal it for the Mad Titan, or will Thanos pay a visit with his bad-self and take it?

All I know is that a lot of the hype has been true, and its blowin' up the character's first appearance in comics outta this world. I've been stressing to get Thanos's first appearance since I first got whiff of rumors of him appearing in the Avengers movie.

His first appearance issue is hot and has been since. It's been the hottest and most sought after comic of this year!

Don't know what comic book Thanos first debuted in? No problem, fellow comic fans! We got you covered.

The Wolverine Villains! New Villain for Wolverine Sequel Revealed!

First look at Hugh Jackman in The Wolverine slated for release next year. As most of us comic-crazed fanatics know, The Wolverine movie will be based in part off the famous 1982 Wolverine Limited series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

It's already confirmed that The Silver Samurai will be a villain in this Wolverine sequel. The Silver Samurai is played by Will Yun Lee, an American actor who actually knows Martial Arts and teached Tae Kwon Do in Napa, California.

Although The Silver Samurai is more than a match to give Wolverine a claw full of problems, FOX has just confirmed that beautiful Russian actress, Svetlana Khodchenkova, who starred in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, is signed onto to join the cast of The Wolverine as a sexy villain to make us guys squirm pleasantly in our seats. Which is just fine by me!

So what Marvel female villain is this Russian hottie going to play? It's Viper, once known as Madame Hydra! The role was originally going to go to the extremely sexy, Hollywood bombshell Jessica Biel. However, plans fell through and Biel declined the role. That's too bad!

Not familiar with the Viper's character in the Marvel Universe? Don't feel bad. Here's a bit of back ground.

Even though Viper is a known enemy of the X-Men, this orphan from Hungary is more well-know as a villain for Captain America, S.H.I.E.L.D., and The Avengers. Yes, she first appeared as a leader for HYDRA, the organization that Cap often goes toe-to-toe with.

However, as Viper, in which she severed ties with HYDRA later on, this sexy female comic villain does employ The Silver Samurai in the comics. No, not to go up against Wolvie. To go up against Spider-Man, Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Nick Fury.

So, how she fits into The Wolverine is based on the comic books that saw The Viper try to assassinate Mariko Yashida, Wolvie's love interest, in the Marvel Comics Universe. It should be noted that Viper and The Silver Samurai are presumed lovers, and Mariko is his half-sister.

The connection between Viper and The Silver Samurai, as well as her connections to The Hand, is why the Viper will be helping to antagonize our favorite bezerker mutie. Director James Mangold promises some pretty awesome battles of Samurai steel against Adamantium claws.

For about a year, I've been telling folks to get the 1982 Wolverine Limited Series by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont. The 2nd issue of the series marks the first appearance of Mariko Yashida. Click the link to discover even more Wolverine key issue comics.
