My Top Contenders Of Who Could Play Wonder Woman!

Wonder Woman image

Alright, now it's time to see the top contenders of whom could play Wonder Woman in a huge, big budget, action/fantasy flick. In part one of this article, I only detailed those who looked like the famous DC Comic character without any merit of whether they could pull off the role acting wise.

If you missed Part 1 just visit the link to my choices. If not, get ready for my top contenders of which actresses who can realistically be a believable, modern version of the Amazonian Princess on the big screen.

Lynn Collins
Lynn Collins in John Carter. Perfect for Wonder Woman

Lynn Collins, the wonderfully gorgeous and beautiful star of the movie John Carter, is my absolute top choice to play Wonder Woman in the Justice League movie as well as a solo Wonder Woman flick. Not only does she have the modern look down for the character, but she looked damn good in her fight scenes in John Carter

You can tell from the above pic to the right that she can easily look like an Amazonian Princess ready to kick some butt. I hope Warner Brothers picks her. I think she is perfect for the role.

Cobie Smulders
Cobie Smulders

Yes, Cobie Smulders is my 2nd choice of who could play Wonder Woman in the Justice League movie or the character's own solo flick. She has a very good resemblance of a vintage and modern look for the female superhero.

Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill in the Avengers movie
The 30 year old actress is no stranger to comic book movies as well. She played Maria Hill in this years summer block buster hit, The Avengers, and looked quite good kicking some butt as well. It could be strange changing camps back and forth from Disney/Marvel Studios to WB/DC Comics to play Maria Hill and then Wonder Woman, but I don't think fans would blink an eye about that.

Olivia Wilde

The actress of Tron: Legacy is no doubt a stunning beauty and has the Wonder Woman look down. At 28 years old, she is the youngest candidate on this list, beating Cobie Smulders by only 2 years.

I have liked Olivia Wilde since I saw her on the short-lived T.V. series The Black Donnellys, and her role in that series proved that she can play an intense character. Although, third on my list, I believe she would make an amazing Wonder Woman on the big screen.

Gina Carano
Gina Carano picture
Gina Carano may be last on my top contenders for the role of Wonder Woman, but don't let that fool you. Here is a real life specimen of wonder.  Extremely beautiful, sexy, and tough, this 30 year old is a former fitness model and MMA female fighter.

Sexy Gina Carano and her in an MMA fight

Okay, so she would have to wear blue eye contacts, but her body and athletic fighting skills are already perfect for an Amazonian warrior. She has competed in Muay Thai, kick boxing, and mixed martial arts. Yes, she's tough enough.

Carano also has acting gigs under her belt as well. She starred in the movies Haywire, In the Blood, and will team up with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in Fast and the Furious 6.

Her acting may require some work, for she is a newcomer to the field. Given her track record, however, I think she has enough discipline and drive to become a pretty darn good action star and believable Wonder Woman. Carano also expressed interest in playing the part, unlike Megan Fox who called the famed female comic icon, Wonder Woman, "lame."

UPDATE: Wonder Woman actress confirmed to be in Man of Steel sequel. Zack Snyder finally casts Wonder Woman for his Superman follow up movie. Click blue link above to find out who!

  1. Lena Headey could be a very good choice. I wanted to put Carla Gugino on there as well, but I considered the age factor. Those at DC/Warner might be shooting for a younger age crowd for casting.

Still Lena Headey of 300 and Game of Thrones is a good call. Has a wonderful accent that could pass as an Amazonian. Thanks for the suggestion! Always appreciated.

  2. Lena Headey or Lynn Collins would be good selections. Headey may be the better actress but of the 2, I think she would have the most work to do when it comes to training and getting into the right shape.

    1. That's true...Headey is a good actress, but hasn't really done much action in films. I think she could pull it off, but would take a bit more time into getting into the right shape for the role.
