The Next Marvel Movie - Guardians of the Galaxy to Set Up Avengers Sequel!

Comic fans...huge news by Marvel Studios of late! As we were all speculating on whether Marvel's next big movie would be a Black Panther movie, it turns out that Marvel's Studios President of Production wasn't kidding around when he said that Marvel was planning to open up it's cosmic universe in films.

That's right - it's been announced and confirmed that the next Marvel movie after Thor 2, Iron Man 3, and Captain America 2 will be Guardians of the Galaxy! What's even more awesome is that Guardians of the Galaxy will set up the storyline for the Avengers 2 sequel.

Yes, that means the Avengers will be facing off with alien forces again in the sequel. What other reason would there be for Earth's Mightiest Heroes to assemble?

For all those who are groaning at a Guardians of the Galaxy flick and asking yourself, "Why would these guys be the next Marvel movie to hit the screen, it makes perfect sense in the realm of comic books. Here's a short run-down:

The Guardians of the Galaxy are team of superheroes from the future who travel back in time to get help from Earth's Mighties Heroes - The Avengers - to battle with the Badoon! This evil race from the future are conquering worlds and committing galactic genocide. Each of the Guardians are the last of their kind.

Even though the Latino Review has said that the script by Nicole Perlman is amazingly stellar, it's still unsure whether the Guardians movie will have the classic 1969 team or the modern team. Official announcement for Guardians of the Galaxy will be presented at San Diego Comic Con.

It's planned that Guardians will come out in 2014 after Captain America 2, and the Avengers 2 is slated to hit theaters the following year in 2015! Well, what about rumors on Antman and the Black Panther hitting the big screen before Avengers 2 rolls out?

It's rumored that Iron Man 3 will set up for the Antman movie, and if the script is solid for the Black Panther movie, these two films could very well be slipped in during 2014 and 2015. AWESOME!

Comic investing fans...if you're looking for the first appearance of Guardians of the Galaxy, it's  Marvel Super-Heroes issue #18, as seen in the pic above. I think now would be a good time to grab it before the hype skyrockets this book's value into orbit. It's not an easy find, however.

  1. Picked up a copy of MSH #18 a couple of months ago for about £12, not generally one for speculative buying but maybe this'll pay off!

  2. That comic is still a key issue. With the Guardians movie, in which if all goes well...the sequels should keep this book in steady demand for quite some time. So cross your fingers that they do have sequels for this movie!

I love movies and comic book movies! Yep, I did, of course, watch The Dark Knight Rises. I think the first two are much better, but it was entertaining and one hell of a trilogy by Christopher Nolan!
